@thomas @praetoriuss schließe mich an. Wenn es "Twitter-like" sein soll, dann hat Mastodon ganz klar das Momentum und die Zukunft mit ActivityPub. Wenn es eher "Facebook-like" sein soll und zu allem was irgendwie geht kompatibel sein soll, dann Friendica. PS: Ich hasse die Facebook und Twitter vergleiche, habe aber keine bessere Idee die unterschiedliche UX zu beschreiben.

Yes, could be. I also tried really hard but couldn't find it. Because as you said, what should you search for.

A few years ago I tried a Android app where you could send a message to all users of the same app next to you (radius of a few kilometers), if one of them re-shared it the same happened again, and so on. On a map you could see how far your message spread. I think this was a quite interesting concept and wonder if this app still exists. Do you know what I'm talking about?

Cross-posting ist gut. Würde aber die andere Richtung empfehlen. Es macht ein großen Unterschied wo das "original" liegt. Gibt es auf Twitter links zu Mastodon oder anders herum? Wo meldet sich der user regelmäßig an um was zu posten, was wiederum entscheidet wo er am aktivsten ist, wo er die meisten Leute kennt usw. Wenn man von Twitter nur Sachen automatisiert über den Zaun wirft wird das Fediverse schnell wieder vergessen und vermutlich nie zur neuen Heimat.

@rugk Du findest ein paar Gründe hier: https://forkawesome.github.io/Fork-Awesome/whats-new/ Für mich persönlich das schönste, dass man bei ForkAwesome offen für neue fonts ist und eben auch Sachen wie Diaspora, Mastodon, Friendica, Nextcloud,... aufnimmt. Etwas gegen das man sich bei FontAwesome immer gesträubt hat. Ein weiterer Punkt ist, dass es soweit ich das sehen kann nur eine freie Version für alle gibt und man kein Open Core Modell verfolgt.

If you license your code under the GPL you support a free market. Low entrance to market for competitors, less state regulation, no artificial monopolies.

@maloki I don't know the development of Mastodon,so please don't take this as a critique or support of the current situation. In general I think forks should be the last action if nothing else works.The community,the ecosystem and last but not least the software as such benefits most if you have a large contributor base working on the same software instead of everyone does his own little fork. In the long run this forks are most often not sustainable.
