@hund I like the quality of the translations of deepl.com. In my erperience it it much better than Google translator. Honestly I didn't looked that much into the data protection policies and so on. Definitely on my ToDo. For now quality and diversity are the main reasons I use Deepl.com instead of Google translator.

Das ist eine Unterstellung die weder etwas mit den Spenden noch mit irgendwelchen Auseinandersetzungen am Stand auf dem 34C3 zu tun haben. Aber ich will hier das fediverse nicht weiter langweilen. Wenn jemand Diskussionsbedarf hat kann er mir gerne eine E-Mail schicken.

@majestyx Hast du nicht erst vor kurzem einen Blog veröffentliche in dem du beschrieben hast wie du hinter dem FSFE Stand auf dem 34C3 mit Leuten über die Probleme von Google & Android gesprochen hast? Warst du in deiner Rolle als Standhelfer nicht teil der FSFE? Daraus folgt doch: "die" reden nicht darüber -> die FSFE redet nicht darüber -> u.a. majestyx redet nicht darüber -> hast du selber widerlegt. Spare dir doch einfach die Unterstellungen und du wirst viel mehr bewirken können.

Hast du irgendwelche Beweise dafür das die FSFE irgendwas von dem was du da schreibst verschweigt? Ansonsten wäre es schön, wenn du diese haltlosen Unterstellungen sein lassen könntest. Danke.

@federicomena Should work in theory. But Nextcloud and ownCloud is drifting more and more away, both on the server and on the client side. Therefore I would settle with one solution. If you consider switching to Nextcloud I would do it as early as possible. We will keep the upgrade path open as long as possible, but it will becomes more and more difficult.

@federicomena Just out of curiosity, do you use ownCloud or Nextcloud? I wonder because you write about ownCloud but link to the Nextcloud forum

@amz3 speed / performance is definitely a reason. Another main reason is integration with the desktop / operating system and native look&feel.

@amz3 I prefer native apps whenever possible, therefore I would vote for Gtk.

@throgh ich weiß das wir alle, als überzeugte GNU User, starke Meinungen zur Wahl der Distribution haben. Ich denke so eine Diskussion macht aber nur wenig Sinn wenn eine Verwaltung zu Freier Software wechseln will, zumal das Betriebssystem am Ende des Prozess ausgetauscht wird und nicht am Anfang.

Ich weiß nicht ob "feiern" das richtige Wort ist. Aber ich unterstütze den Schrift weil es ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung ist. Die Welt ist nicht schwarz/weiß und der Einsatz von Freier Software ist ein Prozess. Man kann andere auf dem Weg begleiten und unterstützen oder jede positive Entwicklung im Keim ersticken weil man alles was nicht der "reinen Lehre" entspricht kritisiert.

@peter That's a great concept, I also try to do it whenever possible. For example my toot's from here goes to Twitter, Facebook, G+, linkedin and Diaspora. Maybe I will also look into ways to push my blog to Medium

@peter That's why I can only recommend the good old way of blogging. There is so much great software out there to host your own blog and stay in control.

Sehe ihm ähnlich, Unternehmen haben kein Motivation ethisch zu Handel, dass Ziel eines jedes Unternehmens ist es möglichst erfolgreich zu sein. Das bedeutet in der Regel Wachstum und Gewinnoptimierung. Das ist auch nicht schlimm, solange es im System Akteure gibt welche für Ausgleich sorgen, z.B. der Staat der Regeln aufstellt und Anreize setzt.
