@grmpyoldman I tried it some time ago. I like the idea, although there are also some drawbacks. (1) you can use your normal GPG key but you have to remove the password which is a no-go for me. (2) if you message people who doesn't use DeltaChat it can be quite disturbing if they get a lot of mails with always only 1-2 sentences.
Barcelona migrates to Free Software. The plan is to start with the applications until the last remaining proprietary software is the operating system which will then be replaced by GNU/Linux. https://itsfoss.com/barcelona-open-source/#pmpc
@mairin I agree, I think we see/saw this by most successful services. Status.net had identi.ca and become rather successful, Matrix has matrix.org (as you said), Mastodon has mastodon.social. I think for new people it is good to know where to go, instead of having to chose between many small and unknown services.
@hoergen@Tobias I think it would be also good to have a declaration, signed by all projects who agree that federation between multiple networks is important and who agree to actively work on keeping the different solutions compatible and take issues about interoperability problems serious and prioritize them. Because at the moment it is hard to tell who is part of the federation, and even more important who is part of it by accident or by commitment.
@__h2__ I have one for quite some time already, but I never liked the UX. I had to put it on the exact right position and make sure not to move in order to make it work. This was always really hard with the yubikey on my keyring. Maybe I will retry if the Nitrokeys with usb-c are available.
@erAck I can completely understand it. For me it was also a long process until I decided to finally do it. At the end I thought this are quite good arguments. https://www.openkeychain.org/faq/#are-my-secret-keys-safe-on-my-mobile-device. Finally I come to the conclusion that as long as I'm not target the key is not notable less secure on my free Android than on my Laptop, if I'm target I have lost in both cases.
After freeing my Android from most of the proprietary stuff I felt comfortable enough to put my #GPG key on my phone. Finally being able to read & answer encrypted mail feels awesome. Thanks #k9mail and #OpenKeychain!
@david_ross Thanks1 I already read about it and was in contact with some people behind it. Actually a lot of the things they are aiming at can already be done today. I have a privacy respecting mail provider and I sync all my calendars, contacts, files (incl. picture & video instant upload), notes, news, tasks,... with my Nextcloud.
