#introductions Hello beautiful crowd. Interaction designer speaking, tired of the sh*t served on other networks, first steps on here. Interests: inclusive design, feminism, surveillance capitalism, mentoring, burnout and evolutionary work paradigms. Feel free to connect if this resonates :)
Just gave 10 shiny US-of-A dollars to @ToSDR 's crowdfunding campaign on CrowdRise. Would recommend. They do great valuable work! Send some spare bucks their way and/or hit that big red boost button, I reckon.
Here's mine for today: I think #Qtractor is bluddy wonderful work and I am very thankful for all the hard work the main dev has been been putting into this piece of #FLOSS for years. -> http://qtractor.sourceforge.net/
Our childcare centre uses an app to keep in touch. It's lovely to get updates about my daughter's day, especially since the new centre she's at is a community-run not-for-profit that really pays attention to each kid's personality and identity.
The other day, an update was about how they played French music: she instantly lit up and pointed at the speaker saying "Papa!", showed it to other kids and danced. Of course I cried. Of course I'm crying again.
Hey, it's #dare-to-share-something-bluddy-wonderful-Friday already! Can you believe it??

@sanspoint I first tried to get people to use Signal but they were frustrated by its clumsiness and lack of features back then (a few years ago), so we settled for Telegram. You'd hope Telegram would fight back with something like p2p encryption in groups or something... Surely they have the means to not bow and further their bad reputation?
@kara@fla I definitely think it's worth a try. I have been a happy user for years. Slightly different use to Mastodon, as you can use it as a blog if you want to (i.e. long markdowned posts). What's an edgelord?
@sanspoint uh what no.... I knew I was taking a risk by finding a middle-ground with my contacts, who now mainly use Telegram. It sure is easy tu use and feature-full, but the lack of p2p encryption by default and the fact that they never released the server code even though they promised they would should have been enough of a warning. I guess there is still the option of p2p private chats which the gov won't get access to, but that doesn't work for groups.
