Tootle is pretty nice lil Mastodon client. I don't like having 70 browser tabs open doing things that I can't Alt-Tab between, so I do enjoy a desktop app.
@Unairedspecifics Weird. I found this article about it. Apparently there are some states with laws that make it tough, if not illegal. That is some bogus anti-competition nonsense. Thankfully my state is not on that list. Hopefully it catches on enough to generate public pressure to push back on those rules.
I made a separate facebook account to keep my business page up, though I don't use it much, and closed my account. Don't even know why I was still on there.
However, when I installed the Snap version of Firefox from the Ubuntu Software Center, I got the option to install updates when I dang well feel like it. That makes me feel better.
I keep software pretty darn up to date, just don't like being bossed around by my computer!
Classic computer problems: Trying to merge and tidy up image files. Can't copy files to external hard drive because there are duplicates with same name that have to be sorted which will take forever to do manually. Can't find and clear out duplicates because software is crashing. Can't transfer all the files to one place via Syncthing because I'm low on disk space. Oh my gosh. I think I'll go have lunch.
I've been using Shotwell, but it lacks a good duplicate finder for images already imported, which GThumb has. Either I missed that feature last time I checked out GThumb, or it's a new addition. Either way, now I'm interested. :)
Researching how to copy image files that have duplicates and choose the larger of the two to keep. I don't feel like it should be hard to do, but no luck yet.
Thanks for asking about this. I have been paying attention to light spectrum a lot lately, trying to configure my devices to make them easier on the eyeballs and sleep cycles.
I'm doing a bit of an exploratory UI survey, and I NEED YOUR HELP! I'm trying to understand and quantify a few things, so if you have approximately two minutes, could you fill this out? Sharing helps a ton, too! https://goo.gl/forms/rx6rSHmt3B1ftAih2
Follow-up: I didn't install Gentoo (one day!), but my Dell Mini 10V runs so great with MXLinux. It's actually a respectable, usable computer. I'm going to use it for writing at the coffee shop.
