@jos hey just took your advice and signed up for the demo and I get "Social needs the .well-known automatic discovery to be properly set up. If Nextcloud is not installed in the root of the domain, it is often the case that Nextcloud can't configure this automatically. To use Social, the admin of this Nextcloud instance needs to manually configure the .well-known redirects:"
not sure how I can test this without actually having the install on my own server then.
@bhaugen your right it is, though its sorta a restart from mikes previous takes on the decentralized thing so its sorta older and newer at the same time.
Just listened to that hour long interview with *Gargon* It was pretty cute, though I am surprised I haven’t seen more people get upset about some of the things said. Mainly about Mastodon being basically feature complete. Also Hubzilla, Friendica and Osada not getting a shoutout. Just cause they are older then Mastodon doesn’t mean we have to exclude them from the cool kids club.
@kaniini@Gargron He said Pleroma users, and let me tell you, you definitely have some seriously rude users and they have been sending their rubbish my way.
Journalism about digital space is fucking hard. I have rarely read a single piece I could just nod my head to. We all have different reasons for using social media. Everything is experiential.
reading everyones hot takes about the daily dot piece. ugh. people are really forgetting how decentralization works. there is no "mastodon" culture. there are bubbles. failing to mention that over half the people on the fediverse don't speak english and live in countries that have their own politics and their own presidents and dictators to talk about.
