I know it's cute and trend to say we need more POCs to run instances, and we do.
But watching how the fedi grappled with Gab coming has revealed to me how pressing this issue is. White people simply refuse to see the obvious despite the literal centuries of information that has been passed down by people that have been brutalized by oppression. Yes, even the alleged good ones.
The Gab situation has revealed how white folks are making decisions to keep the fedi toxic.

If we cannot agree on a unified effort against places like Gab, then yes, it is very clear the fedi has the same issues as the places we are allegedly trying to be better than and dead set on repeating those mistakes.
The amount of lee way I've seen giving to one of the most visibly violent and hateful places on the web clearly denotes the limitations of white people when it comes to safety and their unwillingness to listen to lessons we've paid for in blood.

Here's the thing, homie.
We're not talking about blanket policies to ban people we don't like. That is a really dishonest point to make when talk about dealing with places like Gap.
We're talking about protecting ourselves from one of the most evil places on the web that have verifiably been radicalizing white kids to carry out violent attacks on Brown and Black bodies.
The lack of nuance and basic respect around this in the fedi is very, very telling.

The cruelty is the point. White people acting out their racist fantasies on Black and Brown children.
This has nothing to do with law and everything to do with white supremacy being allowed to enact vengeance on kids for fictional slights and made up threats.
