@shellkr @xeb @snoothy The idea here is not that autism might have a link to a nutrient imbalance, but rather a link to a food allergy.

Not only do we not know what causes it, we don't even know if autism is one "thing" or a collection of different conditions with similar and overlapping presentations.

(What we do know is that there's *some* kind of connection to the immune system, but even that might not be universal.)

I was working for Ericsson when the first iPhone came out. Smartphones were already on the market, although they were mainly seen as high-end devices mainly for business use and so a niche market.

Ericsson gambled on feature-phones instead, and it really hurt them. I don't think any of the big players at that time were successful in predicting the market appetite for smartphones.

@mnxmnkmnd I read somewhere that at one point the mitochondrion was a separate organism but it ended up being "absorbed" into our genome.

    So weird.

This is by far the worst jet lag I've ever experienced. It's like my entire body is vibrating slightly out of phase with the rest of reality.

Another enjoyable #MastodonLDN meetup! As well as Mastodon, discussions covered many related open web projects such as PeerTube, Searx, Open Media Network (OMN) and more. Sounds like the focus for the next one will be on the standards and motivations behind some of these projects. Thanks again @hamishcampbell and @david_ross for organising, and @mozilla for hosting! #meetup #london

A novice of the temple once approached the Master Programmer with a question: “Master, does #Emacs have the Buddha nature?” the novice asked.

The Master Programmer had been in the temple for many years and could be relied upon to know these things. He thought for several minutes before replying: “I don’t see why not. It’s bloody well got everything else.”

@publicvoit @zer0her0 I agree with this actually. Both have their strengths, and people will always have their preference of tools. I'm very much in favour of "whatever gets the job done".

So here’s a hot take: we keep building Blockchain systems to replace trust, but the problem isn’t that we don’t have enough trust - it’s that we have too much and we trust the wrong people.

Proposed solution? Stop trusting people on the Internet. You have the pieces to build individual trust relationships manually - stop being lazy.

@grimmware @ekaitz_zarraga when your business model is about trying to get as many people as possible to click on your ads, there's not much incentive to operate ethically.

@david_ross could it be anything to do with the eastern US region issues that AWS are having? Atlassian seems to be struggling today due to that.
