@benis @awg Its not weird. Tyson made Libbie, so in a way she's his daughter. This is like gathering up photos of his daughter being fucked by different strangers and sending them to him unsolicited. Not weird at all.

@lain @shpuld I watched this story ricochet from Western media back to Japan, and the commentary has been fun. "It's scary to see how they just clip off part of the video to make him look bad. やっぱりマスゴミ信用できんな!"
So, like, thanks for inadvertently teaching people to distrust what they see online guys.

The variety and comfort afforded to onahole users in the modern age owes much to the early pioneering work of Edo era perverts https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/955431

@lain my pet conspiracy theory that manning was a stealth marketing campaign for the Emoji Movie lies in tatters
-
@dolus My only point is, it's rather clickbaity to suggest "MOZILLA IS SUPPORTING ANTIFA EMAIL" when it's more accurate (and less punchy) to say "Mozilla donated money to a e-mail provider sympathetic to leftypol which is used by some violent groups espousing similar politics".
-
@dolus Antifa can make an onion site too, if I strain my rhetoric hard enough I can argue that's Antifa friendly. I hope we're not going to say that hosting e-mail and not looking into how it's used is Bad and Must Be Stopped, because that attitude will come back and bite us in the ass pretty hard one day.

#mastodonmemory When Gargron tried to create Twitter Without Nazis, but instead merely laid the foundation for the largest federated Japanese loli network the world has ever seen.

@marsxyz @yvvu Must be a demographic thing. I know here, for every NEET living off the government or their parents, there's multiple salarymen or tradespeople who just have unusual hobbies. The group I do Comiket with includes a civil servant, a professional carpenter, and a middle manager in a logistics company.

I know synthwave is knowingly nostalgic for the late 80s/early 90s, but is the popularity of it purely nostalgic, or ironic, or is there an actual interest in themes, tropes, and the general aesthetic of that era again? As much as people like to mash it up with anime, it's basically impossible to put it to anything post-2000, with the possible exception of Psycho Pass, and I get the feeling we're never going to see another dystopian SF anime from a Japanese studio again.

@dolus @dirb In a secret bunker in an undisclosed location, routing through multiple proxies and layers of encryption, Hijabholic continues to defy the global jihad by transmitting a relentless torrent of haram smut. https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/846680

@zemichi Anakin's motivations were always the weakest link, too. Obviously the angle was he was traumatized by the death of his mother, and feared losing his wife, and followed Palpatine out of desperation, but the flip to the Dark Side was just a little too quick.
"You just killed a Jedi Master to save my life. Now you're a Sith Lord. Here's your new name. Padme? Yeah, relax...we'll get to her. First I need you to kill literally a hundred people for me, though."
I would've enjoyed the tale of an idealistic young man rightfully upset at the failures of a weak and dying system, trying to build something better, his good intentions slowly sliding into a quagmire of compromises and rationalizations until the realization of the nightmare he helped create breaks him. It would've meshed so much better with the idea of him passively serving the Emperor for years, but turning on him when the opportunity for redemption was presented.

Speaking of Zdzisław Beksiński...
Zdzisław Beksiński, motherfuckers. https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/832338 https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/832340 https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/832341 https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/832343

I'd heard of, and briefly listened to Throbbing Gristle before, but they don't have quite the same low-key, ominous tone to them. Naked City is like the soundscape of a Zdzisław Beksiński painting, and I love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTEOd2VQmlk
