For those who believe there's nothing like the Intel ME on the Red side, you're sorely mistaken. In fact, we know even less about AMD's Intel ME counterpart called the Platform Security Processor. It's a separate ARM process running proprietary code.
@davey i7-3770, 28GB RAM (of varying speeds and brands), 500GB HDD, 240GB SSD, Radeon RX580 6GB(I think), Gigabyte Mobo of the time, stock cooling everything.
AMD Ryzen 3rd Gen CPU for the speed upgrade, and to support the competition :P, also my processor does a weird speed step thing where it'll only get to top speed once it's reached full boot, sometimes the fan doesn't actually go on until I manually spin it, processor change would force mobo upgrade = ram upgrade possible later
Would you replace your existing internet provider with a community-based ISP, assuming that you'd (at the very least) keep the same speed? If so/not, why?
@MadestMadness That should be qualified with "assuming Minsky has a decent sense of morality" but no, that's not the most plausible scenario when talking about a sex trafficking island and "i don't know" from the girl to the question in court of "when" the acts occurred w/ Minsky.
@MadestMadness To be clear, he's more saying "well if the girl 'presented' as willing, what did he do wrong?" and the answer to that would be that it's statutory rape and procurement (aka pimping) of a minor, or child sex trafficking, whichever is the correct name for the charge.
@Ucak I think there's a typo here. Did you mean "shouldn't"?
I think there are other folks who could do not only a better job defending free software, but also be more effective at spreading it.
No, I couldn't do a better job, but that doesn't mean I can't call for a better representative in situations where I believe the current representative is an ill representation of the community
@Matter I think for the benefit of diversity in the free software movement, it would be wise to /not/ call attention to RMS, except in cases where only his work is being praised and when pointing out injustices.
He is not a pleasant man to be around and it shows on multiple fronts from his political commentary regarding sexuality and sexualized behaviour, to the plethora of really awkward and abrasive interviews.
@Matter To insinuate that Minsky did nothing wrong is to insinuate that it's okay for a man to coerce a woman into having sex with someone else, in my POV.
Regardless of whether the victim was willing or not, it still presents an illegality on the grounds of sex trafficking and procurement (otherwise known as pimping).
That's pretty much all I have to say on that portion of the matter, but if you have questions regarding the view, send me an email linuxliaison@fastmail.com
Some of you idolize this guy and yeah, he's done some pretty fucking remarkable work. But some of the work is thanks to the attention he's garnered and some of that attention has been garnered thanks to comments and opinions like this.
I'm not okay with that and I think that we should not be hoisting this guy to the top as a "symbol" for Free Software. The idea is bigger than him.
"The reference reports the claim that Minsky had sex with one of Epstein’s harem…Let’s presume that was true (I see no reason to disbelieve it).
"We can imagine many scenarios, but the most plausible scenario is that she presented herself to him as entirely willing." - RMS in reference to the Epstein child sex trafficking case
