I'm still messing with my cover idea for Corrupter's Curse looking for #gimp #photomanipulation tutorial recs.
And I still can't decide is I prefer the orange or yellow...
On the upside I found the isolated version of the woman image on pixabay

@pillowcat yeah, the contrast on the yellow is definitely better

@vicorva gosh, yours one of the few books no one has reviewed there yet... I think that's actually a good sign for you but it must be nerve racking

@aldersprig in the modern they use it ... indeed many now think using magic for something mundane is a terrible sin... initially not so much... at least not all of them.
@aldersprig as an equalizer between people with magic and people with no magic
@WanderingBeekeeper @aldersprig @vicorva @InspectorCaracal @Teryl_Pacieco @nuhn @dmoonfire #writing I am thinking about the history of elves in my fantasy world that has moved on and now has modern technology alongside magic
Naria is wearing no less than three years worth of Starfall Festival Finery at once and may look slightly silly "http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=550095

chilling at the village commissary in the alternate socialist present. yesterday for the sixth year running the village elected a local cat monarch-in-chief, and today is the coronation ceremony where villagers try to goad the cat onto the throne with treats long enough to place a crown upon their head. it is a difficult and usually futile endeavor, but we have fun.
@Shutsumon That would also be a case of misconduct in public office, maximum sentence - life imprisonment.
BoJo refuses to resign. Basically states outright he will ignore the law forbidding no deal Brexit. If these aren't high crimes and misdemeanors then what is. Parliament should definitely impeach him.
@porsupah BoJo needs more skin grafts
"At least one big relief in the Brexit saga: the rule of law in the UK is alive & kicking. Parliaments should never be silenced in a real democracy.
I never want to hear Boris Johnson or any other Brexiteer say again that the European Union is undemocratic."
"Hale says prorogation is not a proceeding in parliament.
Although it takes place in parliament, it is not their decision. It is something that has been imposed on them from outside.
The PM’s advice to Her Majesty was “unlawful, void and of no effect”.
That means the order in council was also “unlawful, void and of no effect”.
That means the prorogation had no effect. She says it is as if the royal commission had no effect.
Parliament has not been prorogued, she says.
She says it is for the Speaker to decide what happens next."
The Court decided unanimously that the matter is justiciable, and that "prorogation will be unlawful if it has the effect of preventing parliament form being able to carry out its constitutional functions", and, that the "prolonged" suspension was "unusual", and that "the effects on the fundamentals of democracy was extreme".
"Hale says the court is “bound to conclude that the decision to advise her Majest to prorogue parliament was unlawful”."
IT IS UNLAWFUL!
(Fascinatingly, the Court's website is positively crawling along)
Possible outcomes, per David Allen Green:
Non-justiciable - government win
Justiciable but lawful - government win (though court may say "careful now")
Justiciable and declaration of unlawfulness - government defeat
Above, with coercive order and/or finding of improper motive - bad government defeat

I'm hearing it so much from perfectly earnest people but it's a problem because it is so darned easy to debunk and give the anti-climate change lobby a weapon to paint us as deceptive or foolish by pointing to misinformation we are actually spreading.
No... Just no. Even if the entire Amazon burned down we would not lose 20% of our breathable oxygen. It is a total misunderstanding.
The Amazon is responsible for 20% of all oxygen produced by land plants each year but we have enough oxygen for millions of years even if all photosynthesis in the world ceased today ( of course it would be a moot point because we'd starve)
