I haven't read mainstream comics since, well, forever, but I picked up a couple of random titles at the library -- bits of Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man and All New X-Men, and a random volume of Gillen's Avengers vs. X-Men.

Bendis is amazing (duh). Gillen's arc about Mr. Sinister building a Victorian Utopia under Alaska I *think* was supposed to juxtapose Cyclops' ill-fated Utopia in the sky, but it didn't really work. I did only read Volume 4 of whatever tho.

In the end it required hijacking K's new PC and using Nook Study there to extract the .epubs, installing the synology cloudstation client on her PC, enabling SMB 1.0 (!) to browse the shared folders, reinstalling calibre on my mac, reinstalling the DeDRM plugin, reconfiguring the B&N encryption keys, reimporting the .epubs, creating a gmx mail account, configuring it for SMTP, configuring calibre to use the GMX account, and converting everything to .mobi.

The future is amazing!

By which I mean I have spent two hours on futzing around with adb trying to do app backups of my non-rooted phone only to find that adb cannot seem to backup individual apps on my phone, and can only do full backups of shared data.

Now entering hour three of rescuing purchased ebooks from an old B&N Nook account.

@mrszee it went great! One of the pokemon got stuck in a pit trap and the party had to roll a skill challenge to get them back out, and the Abominable Snowman agreed to work in Santa's workshop fixing machines to get back on the nice list. improving with 5yr olds is fun.

Arboretum! I have no idea what I'm doing but I fucking love this game. Holy hell. #boardgames

kids are in bed. Resuming #boardgames with holiday baking.

This was fun! The boys both wanted to be Pokemon Rangers, so they each picked a pokemon and I whipped up 5e rules for their attacks, which they used in place of class abilities. Wearing my DM hat, I managed to improv three acts and an epilogue, a combat encounter during overland travel, a dungeon, two puzzles, two traps, a BBEG and some NPCs (Santa and Mrs. Claus and a fat sleepy elf). #DnD
