@belmont And then you get into matters of pricing. What's a fair license? Is $25 fair to charge Amazon, and is $40,000 too much for a single proprietorship?

@belmont It also assumes honestly on the part of those who are using the software, which, while necessary in any licensing situation, is also rather difficult to enforce without privileging / disadvantaging certain groups.

Part of the reason I don't accept any money for Open Metalcast is because I don't want to run afoul of someone's take on what "Commercial" is. Any time you throw money into the equation someone is going to figure out that you're somehow profiting off of their work.
I don't have answers, nor do I claim to be 100% clear on the delineation between commercial / non-commercial. All I know is this is a taxonomy that can have unintended consequences.

I think it's admirable that folks are taking a stand about being exploited. I think that's commendable and I wish them every success in fixing broken systems.
My fear though is we're going to inadvertently re-create something like The Unity game engine license where once you hit some magic number you suddenly have to start paying for the software.
I find those sorts of licenses anathema for me, even though I would gladly help to support creators.

Practice IS how you’ll improve your art. There really isn’t any other way. It just needn’t come at the expense of your emotional well-being. Resting, being in nature, experiencing totally different kinds of art are all great too.
Sometimes I sew to learn, stretch, and grow. Sometimes I do it to self-soothe. Sometimes I nap or walk or read or play video games instead.

Seeing a couple people post about #inktober and I’ll throw in my two cents about such events.
I love finding ways to challenge myself to do things I haven’t done before.
I do better with breaks.
I do better with repetition a few times.
Daily things don’t fit everyone, including me. There’s no particular merit to it! I’d recc just following up on things you find interesting or challenging. Stretching and forgiving yourself.
You’re not a brand. You don’t owe people a WAY of doing art.

So our house came with a… seismograph. Anyone know anything about these and wants to FaceTime with me?

@zigg I find that when I realize that I am seeking comfort and a place to run that I just need to sit with that feeling and be one with it. Feel its texture and notice where it's coming from. The longer I can do that the better I am at being able to be at peace with that discomfort.

Yeah, just deactivated my account. I barely used it and frankly I'd rather not agree to new TOS day-and-date from when they update them. They can blow it out their hipster pipes.

Even better, nobody could be bothered to write up a summary of what the changes are that just went into effect, so now I'm sitting here with vimdiff looking over what I am now agreeing to to determine if it was worse than before. (Note: please don't ask me to do Indiegogo's work for you. Ask them to post those changes on their site).

Indiegogo: "We've updated our Terms of Use, which are effective today. Please take sometime to review them. The continued use of our site and services will indicate your agreement to be bound by the new Terms of Use."
Note that the above statement is pretty much all that was sent to me. Nothing else. So I have to go to your site to figure out what changed.
This is what we refer to in the business as an asshole maneuver.

Oh great, just realized that Dark City is over 20 years old.
This is not a realization I needed today:

@Are0h It's so many years of belief in a superiority complex and that the clap is on the 1 and the 3.

@June some of us have paid attention more than others, I'll admit, but I'm getting used to disappointment.

I mean, we've all wondered at some point what would happen with the FSF should RMS (heaven forbid) pass on. It looks like we're getting our answer, and that answer doesn't speak well of the longevity of the FSF. It just feels like they're beholden to the will of one man.
Apple never recovered from the loss of Steve Jobs. I'm starting to fear that the FSF won't outlive RMS's direct involvement.
