For new #pinebook owners interested, I am running the 0.7.28 build of ayufan's Ubuntu bionic image with LXDE and have wifi/sound/opengl working, so if you go that route and hit any snags, give me a yell.
(note: there are newer builds. they have issues - 0.7.28 is the newest that didn't give me a hard time. consider ayufan builds to be experimental quality, not polished releases.)

@zigg I'd say it's definitely worth a try - hardware compat is a spotty point for haiku afaict so far but the installer is also a livecd so it's easy to give it a shot without committing to anything
