    Interesting viewpoint. Honestly, there are some *business* tasks where #MSExcel will give you wrong answers. In early versions, a number of business formulas had errors, which were never fixed because of backwards compatibility.

    S should receive the !RasPi Zero 2 kit tomorrow. This kit comes with a microSD card with “NOOBS” on it, so she will have a choice between multiple operating systems. It also has a case and a microHDMI to HDMI adapter, plus a power supply. It might also have a USB port multiplier and a heat sink. I don’t remember the whole description.

    She was excited enough to order a little portable monitor screen for it.

    #USGS reports M 6.2 #earthquake in the Philippines at 2023-06-15 02:19:25 UTC. Location 13.795 N, 120.713 E, 124.2 km depth. Felt in areas including Manilla, San Pedro, Angeles, Taal. This was pretty deep, so I expect less damage.

    That's why state and federal government agencies need to be actively checking. In the employer-employee relationship, the employer generally has much more power ... and acting unethically increases their profits, so without a countering force, this sort of thing spreads rapidly.

    They're talking about a substantial pay increase for a certain subset of the TechTeam without realizing that they're incentivizing other people in other sections to transfer out of their existing section. Not a wise move when they're already having trouble obtaining techpeeps. Maybe if they raised all tech pay and just raised the one section more than others ... but AFAIK that is not currently being discussed.

    Discussion at $EMPLOYER: they're having trouble filling tech openings, so now they're trying to figure out how to allocate more money for paying people in specific workplace roles without spillover to roles that they don't wish to increase their pay scales.

    Not that it matters, as my current role isn't going to be eligible in the first place. (Someone in the Q&A asked already and was told "no way" in a nice way.)

    #GD2 sent an invitation for a #videochat on Saturday. She's eleven, but she's been writing full sentences, with punctuation, correctly spelled since she was six.

    She's the only person I know who is younger than about thirty whose written messages immediately make sense. (To be fair, I used to have to rewrite letters from relatives so that I could understand the message.)

    My daughter-in-law sent me a Fathers' Day gift: blue handprints from #GS3 (his favorite color), red handprints from #GS4 (his favorite color), green handprints from #GS5 (at 8 months, he has not expressed a color preference).

    Also, the four year old has not enrolled in preschool, so he'll be participating in socialization events through the local parks and recreation district.

    @geniusmusing @fu I'd guess that a ban on instance A only applies to that instance and to communities hosted there. If the user's account is on instance B, a ban on instance A shouldn't affect communities hosted on instance C.
