    I'll be going to a friend's wedding in a few months. Which must be why I'm listening to "Love Train".

    This became the official song at family wedding receptions because of some embarrassing history.

    One day when #sonTwo (2nd son) and #Daddy_A (half son) were in middle school, I picked them up and we stopped at McDonald's to eat and do homework before the Wednesday night church service.

    Love Train came on, and their non-dancing father got up and started dancing around. 2nd son said "dad, you're embarrassing us." I said, "I'm going to dance just like this when this song gets played at your wedding."

    And so, every wedding, this song plays and I dance to it.

    That seems to be common recently. Maybe newer models intentionally skip giving any troubleshooting information in case you're not really you.

    With NATO special forces on the ground in Ukraine, Putin can now indeed claim a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO taking place. What a clusterfuck. The whole time NATO states have tried their utmost to keep their military personnel off Ukrainian soil. And now the Brits and the Yanks seemingly undermined that. I can only hope that this is not true but some sort of deep fake. But I'm not too optimistic. Anyway, this war was always going to be a major land warfare fought over the whole of Europe. I never had any illusions about it. (Although I desparately hoped otherwise.) And this war will last until Putin is dead. So here we are, one year into the war, and the overt exchange of Russiaโ€“Nato blows quickly approaching. It will get a whole lot worse before it can get better.

    I saw https://academy.afrinic.net/ posted on another site. It looks interesting, but ... firstly, I'm not in a job where this is directly applicable. When I'm standing up a facility (which is less and less these days, as there's now a special team which usually travels out to take care of this), the ISP technician hands over a fully functional high speed public Internet connection and we take it from there. Except, again, the special team does it, as only they are allowed to handle and program certain equipment.

    Secondly, I don't think I have the raw mental capacity to do all the things I already feel the need to study in preparation for job.next(), so adding another isn't happening.

    I did a #Mumble voice chat this evening with @a@pl.nulled.red. However, the connection here is exceptionally slow, so my client's connection kept timing out every few minutes. This happened on two different servers. Finally, we ended the voicechat.

    Afterwards, I did a test connection to the #Federati #Murmur / Mumble server. It disconnected once over a ten minute test.

    So if I do another #Office_Hours voicechat soon, understand that my connection may be interrupted.

    Anyway, I got some great ideas. A has been trying to document #ActivityPub itself (S2S and C2S designs), various implementations (including the Mastodon API that is often used instead of AP_C2S), as well as other #federated communication protocols such as #Matrix and #XMPP. They suggested that "a better Matrix" might be able to be built atop AP.

    I used to watch their game streams years ago, but the voice sounded different over Mumble. I'm told that getting a better microphone made the difference.

    As I plan for a job change, I'm also planning for times beyond that. I think I'm going to have a will drawn up. I don't have any known illness to prompt it, but still.

    The truth is, (1) I changed a song on my list for my memorial after I'm gone, and (2) I know that 2nd son #sonTwo is the only family member who would follow my instructions, so I want to ensure that he's in charge.

    Related: there's some custody / support paperwork that I want to clean up. Now that he's 35, it really does not matter, but I wouldn't want to give any excuse to someone who wishes to overrule my own wishes.

    Someone posted https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agrMP_mz_jE and then speculated that humans' "HHO" content may be the cause behind spontaneous human combustion. To be fair, they also said we are electric beings, so their idea is probably that internal processes break their water down into hydrogen and oxygen.

    This "WeChat does everything" idea sounds similar to what App dot Net was trying to do. If I recall correctly, ADN was supposed to be a support layer where different things could ride atop. They built their microblogging thing and I think there were a few alpha products being built, but they ran out of funds. I think partly because their biggest product was the microblogging site, and it was mostly a smaller and paid version of #Twitter ... it is hard to gain enough paying customers for the same thing that a larger zero-price competitor offers.

    So let's say Twitter goes 100% paid, will they still be the world's leading source for news and information? I cannot answer, but I don't expect to be among their customer base.
