The program looks legit as heck. Brewing technique workshops, artisan tea tastings, tea growing workshops, bunch of vendors... 15$ entrance fee and some work shops cost more or have limited capacity, but even just the door fee includes plenty of opportunities to taste nice things and learn cool things and a tasting cup to boot.
It's fucked up that the web is just okay with propping up google's hegemony over the web and allowing google to abuse the web's labor with reCAPTCHA.
In the past you could say that there was a true cultural benefit as it was scanning books and old newsprint prior to Google acquiring the company behind the tech and quickly abusing it to train their self driving car models.
The OLPC-XO 1.0 had a specialized LCD display which could act in a 200dpi e-paper like monochrome mode if you turned off the backlight, or it could use a crazy diffraction grating with the backlight to provide one color per pixel to work as a color display. I so very wish that this had caught on more, especially with modern LCD/plastics tech. Color mode wouldn't be very sharp, but you could use it in bright sunlight.
Or when its done implicitly by third parties outside of our control like in the case of credit reporting ...
The exchange here is "exist in modern society" which is not an equitable or consensual exchange, both literally and figuratively. There's a reason Equifax has 143mm Americans' information and it's not cause we're all super fucking excited to participate in debt-based society.
