Nate Cull (natecull@mastodon.social)'s status on Tuesday, 24-Sep-2019 23:10:50 EDT Nate Cull @djsundog We should recycle a whole lot of old tech names just to mess with algorithms. I wonder if it's time for 'DivX' to be given a third completely unrelated definition.

DJ Sundog - from the toot-lab (djsundog@toot-lab.reclaim.technology)'s status on Tuesday, 24-Sep-2019 19:14:13 EDT DJ Sundog - from the toot-lab I haven't seen any conversation building up to this anniversary anywhere and I'm kind of surprised.
This upcoming November will mark the 30th anniversary of the opening of the very first commercial Internet service provider offering dial-up access to the general public.
That ISP is The World, and they still offer dial-up connections.

So after receiving mail for Nik Kershaw (80s pop star) I got mail today for Matthew Barney (artist who makes really long strange movies).
Either that or this house had some wild company in it's past.

π Craig (smallsees@social.dropbear.xyz)'s status on Monday, 16-Sep-2019 20:36:02 EDT π Craig An update! They looked at the net-snmp bug again and there was a fix already, just not in the current release.
Amazing how two simple lines can ruin your day.

π Craig (smallsees@social.dropbear.xyz)'s status on Sunday, 15-Sep-2019 18:02:57 EDT π Craig You might recall my net-snmp bug that uses the wrong port? The developers got back to me and said it's not supposed to do that and closed the bug.
I used to think a bug was a program doing something it shouldn't do. π
So I guess I'll put my evil hack in instead to fix it.

π Craig (smallsees@social.dropbear.xyz)'s status on Sunday, 15-Sep-2019 18:11:01 EDT π Craig @bartleby I did too in the end. It was impossible to get it to work.
Either the UEFI needed to be on the encrypted partition so was not accessible or all of the partitions we're not encrypted.
To make matters worse the partition program is a bit kludgy so didn't realize partitions were gone or created so it involves lots of going in and out of the program.

π Craig (smallsees@social.dropbear.xyz)'s status on Sunday, 15-Sep-2019 18:08:47 EDT π Craig @Fudgel oh I totally get why they are separate. My issue is the work around doesn't work.
A USB stick with the firmware Deb's in a /firmware directory? Yep and it still won't find it.
I had to manually add all the wireless Deb's plus the firmware to get it to work.

π Craig (smallsees@social.dropbear.xyz)'s status on Sunday, 15-Sep-2019 18:06:49 EDT π Craig @kaniini remember when websites used to have those little badges that said 100% legit because this group said so?
These stickers look like that.
And just like the worst sites had the most faked badges if I had a skimmer I'd totally put that sticker on the ATM too.

π Craig (smallsees@social.dropbear.xyz)'s status on Saturday, 14-Sep-2019 23:00:31 EDT π Craig @bartleby its odd because the drive is there with the firmware, ill just add it later but really im not sure why it doesnt like it.
As for encrypted drives and UEFI what a nightmare! I've conceeded default and just turned off encryption.
It seems I can have encrypted partitions or a bootable system but not both.
