@jjg I'd rather that you had to be nicer to use a computer. Pass basic ethics tests to do more than read mail, contribute to charities to send anything, pet a dog to be able to code. It'd block a lot of the annoying population.
@lain I'm really creeped out by the "what if there's an abuser?!" panopticon Stasi officers, but using non-encrypted messaging is already so stupid that I'm kind of OK with them being spied on.
@cypnk After dealing with enough end-users and tutoring, I lost my empathy for people who won't learn a harder tool; they get the nerfed environment. Any motivated average-IQ user *can* learn CLI and basic dev tools, most *choose* not to, will fight you or gnaw off a limb to escape learning anything.
As long as it's relatively easy for devs to get in, and it is, fine. AJ went crazy the other day when I said Apple aren't supervillains, but they're not.
@djsundog Back in the day, I feared magnetism (well, still do), so I put my backup disks in a second box up in the closet. Not offsite, but better than being near the active set.
@djsundog N% of kids will be used as reactor shielding by our robot overlords. (99-N)% will be wasted in the robotic uprising. 1% will think they're the Chosen One, but this is just the robots playing a trick on stupid Humans.
