Thanks to the parliamentarians/Cromwell... we won't see Stirling as it once was. It stood very tall, but they battered the castle and then used the ruins to add a defensive structure in front. More gatehouses. This is a depiction by John Slezer of how it looked prior. https://sealion.club/attachment/2717908

Stirling Castle from above. https://sealion.club/attachment/2717904

@phildobangnz It was very pretty in person!
-
@phildobangnz Haha... they aren't professional or anything! :P

There really is something mystical and beautiful about seeing Scotland in the wintertime though. The colours are really beautiful... it is hard to begrudge the weather because it all merges beautifully together.
-
This is a photo of Ben Nevis that someone took on a better day... my shot isn't very good with that because this is one that I took close to where I thought it was. :') https://sealion.club/attachment/2717880

This is the Nevis ranges... Ben Nevis in particular is the highest mountain in the British Isles. So we took pictures of it... but due to the weather it is difficult to see. I wanted to show this photo because it gives a good impression of what Scotland is like in the highlands... high mountain peaks and greenery/shrubbery around. These colours are a reoccurring theme. Even the white peaks. https://sealion.club/attachment/2717867

The banqueting hall you just saw was turned into a barracks at one point, it had a lot of men sleeping inside it. This was before it was then opened to the public to view. It has taken them at least 30 years to restore it to its original look for our enjoyment. There are quite a few tales about the place too. It is worth going if you can!
-
Apparently the Queen still visits Stirling Castle from time to time! It has been besieged so many times due to its importance and location.
-
I hope to go back to Stirling Castle when I return to scotland, and be able to really appreciate it... we didn't see everything due to timing! But I really would like to tour all the castles.
-
This was the largest banqueting hall of its time... this is inside Stirling Castle itself. I'll find some better photos than mine of the place itself. Plus we went at a bad time really.

@phildobangnz No problem. Other people have done far better photos than I of these places so I might just grab those to share.
-
@phildobangnz Meh... I'm just going to share three photos and be done with it.
-
@phildobangnz Meh.
-
We managed to see the remains of what is left of Fort William... there isn't much left outside in its original place, and we only got to see this part... https://sealion.club/attachment/2717762

Moving photos via bluetooth over to my laptop is quite slow... hmm. Can't seem to find it any other way.

@detectivehyde Trust me, it was delusions of grandeur that I was experiencing at that point in my life. Spirituality sorta merged with it, and enabled it. It was difficult to tell what was real and what wasn't. Better that I detached myself.
-
@phildobangnz These things never go 100% ideal. :') The weather was definitely not on our side. But between that... it was nice. There were some nice moments. Like seeing the scottish highlands.
-
@phildobangnz I went with family, yeah. But no comment. :P
-
@phildobangnz Yeah... it was touch and go at times. But made it back in one piece. u_u
