@nerthos This is true. I feel that it is on me when I surprise someone by just turning up.
-
@rice I tried playing Witcher 3, but kept failing at near the beginning where there is a monster by a bridge or something which is needed to advance. Totally wasn't prepared for it even after looking up for some help and then lost interest. ;;
-
@rice That would be so cute! I really am looking forward to teaching my children how to cook. Especially some of the things I did a few times over the years. I feel bad that my own skills are so lacking because I want to be able to teach them how to cook properly! Especially when it comes to baking. I really enjoyed that growing up. Fairy cakes... mmm!
-
@nerthos Good point. I would definitely feel rude if I did that! :')
-
@rice That doesn't seem like a bad idea... however it might get stressful. Cooking can be stressful at times for me. Either way, BF will probably have to step in to help with cooking or with entertaining our children when he is around. Alternate. I might make everything in advance that can be on hand too... the more practice I get in, the less stressful it will become. I also intend to involve all my children with helping out in the kitchen... delegate tasks out if they want to help out. I find cooking is much more fun when it is shared... it tastes better.
-
@nerthos Yeah... I guess I'm quite fortunate in that regard. Unannounced guests can really alter the plans for the day too.
-
@rice Yeah... I definitely think I'm going to need to double up on everything. Probably cook every day or every few days in order to keep things fresh and avoid turning to processed foods. ;; Then when the children come along... oh boy, oh boy!
-
@nerthos Honestly, that just wouldn't do for me. I'd rather they announced themselves than just turned up. Although I have just turned up somewhere before.
-
Whenever I'm with bricky, I basically end up eating more food than I usually do... and he ends up eating less. I envision a lot of cooking in my future.
-
I basically eat half of what you do, and even then!
-
@rice No problem! If you can find it, that would be great. Thanks for providing the links anyway. :)
-
@rice I'm not sure that I would say to be especially careful with vegan ready-made meals... although I do notice oils. Sugar depends, because they could be natural rather than added. It is worth being cautious about processed meals regardless... they have to add all kinds of things to preserve food or make it more compatible to a wider range of people compared to fresh food you make yourself to your own tastes. I would prefer to move over to meals I can prepare easily myself, and also prepare in advance for those days I'm not up to cooking. So basically what you do. (Including the BF that eats a lot of food!)

@rice The first site is interesting. However, the second one is stuck behind a paywall and creating an account which I would rather avoid, alas. But it does sound interesting!

Interesting.

Oof... today has been a day of rest and catching up on things. I think I needed it, honestly.
-
@epsiloco Thanks! In time, I plan to experiment much more than I can right now. Diet is important to me. I think tackling my diet is where I'm going to lose weight better, for instance. As well as help in other ways. I'm thinking about how to add spices and herbs to my diet too.
-
@epsiloco Yeah. I really want to think about the foods that I add to my stomach. I have to wonder how it impacts me for the day. Like if it adds to aches or sluggishness.

"Your body makes all of the cholesterol it needs, so you do not need to obtain cholesterol through foods. Eating lots of foods high in saturated fat and trans fat may contribute to high cholesterol and related conditions, such as heart disease.
What you can do:
-Limit foods high in saturated fat. Saturated fats come from animal products (such as cheese, fatty meats, and dairy desserts) and tropical oils (such as palm oil). Foods that are higher in saturated fat may be high in cholesterol.
-Choose foods that are low in saturated fat, trans fat, sodium (salt), and added sugars. These foods include lean meats; seafood; fat-free or low-fat milk, cheese, and yogurt; whole grains; and fruits and vegetables.
-Eat foods naturally high in fiber, such as oatmeal and beans (black, pinto, kidney, lima, and others) and unsaturated fats, which can be found in avocado, vegetable oils like olive oil, and nuts). These foods may help prevent and manage high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or “bad”) cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or “good”) cholesterol levels."
-
"When your body has too much LDL cholesterol, the LDL cholesterol can build up on the walls of your blood vessels. This buildup is called “plaque.” As your blood vessels build up plaque over time, the insides of the vessels narrow. This narrowing blocks blood flow to and from your heart and other organs. When blood flow to the heart is blocked, it can cause angina (chest pain) or a heart attack."
This is definitely a concern for me.

Here is to trying to sleep early-ish. I should be tired enough to try! It has been a long day, and a long week. Goodnight, fedi. Take care and sleep well!
