@agaric @Angle (not meant as a criticism of people wanting to promote their content on twitter! just noticing that it's probably a limiting factor on mastodon taking off - people don't really come here to follow big names)

@Angle @agaric a whole bunch of webcomics people joined like 8 months ago for a week but didn't hang around (JJ included), Nice to see them giving it another go.
I guess mastodon is always going to be a hard sell for people who want to promote their content because it's much more egalitarian, whereas twitter's model encourages (and thrives on) power users

all these new users, I'm gonna need some way to signal my long-term user status, better start posting toasters again
