it's hard to write melodies with letters.
I wish music and its notations were part of every language.

@sybren and the quote is actually on the Blender download page lol

Taaaa,

Talalaaa, lalaaa, tadaaa

@sybren excellent, that's exactly it.
@sybren it's one of the very few franchises where the trailers are not only exciting but also amazing on their own.
@deerbard someone should eventually tell him or his english translator that "last" is not the same as "latest" and also that "retirement" is not the same as "pause". Miyazaki will not stop for as long as he lives.
@sybren Don't worry though, I keep a "bugs to report" list for whenever I find a bug and don't have the time to file a report in the moment. But they're a high priority for me so they never stay long in there.
@sybren I was working on a large and complex file and couldn't narrow down the issue. If it comes up again with the RC, I'll dig some more into it.
@sybren on a recent build (about a week old) I've had several crashes.
There have been release candidates that lasted for about a month, with a- RC1 and RC2. If the release candidate is on the front page of blender.org, more people stumble upon it and try it, and they understand if it has bugs.
Anywho, no big deal. In time, it will get rock stable and people will have to give up their misconceptions.
@sybren that's surely defendable. I was just thinking that many new people and studios who have never used Blender will give it a try as soon as it's released, and they may not be used to software you can dowload anytime as it gets improved so if they get too many crashes, it might throw them off. I'm just assuming though.

Blender 2.80 Release Candidate is online! Check out what's new on https://www.blender.org/download/releases/2-80/ download it, test it and report any issue on https://developer.blender.org/ #b3d #b280
@pablovazquez @sybren for what concerns me, take all the time you need to make it as stable as possible. I prefer stability to earliness. I wonder why it's so important to have a release for Siggraph. Saying "it will be out soon" on stage sounds just as exciting to me and it proves you don't want to rush things, which is often appreciated.
@unfa looks like the plate is just using the wrong texture or UV map. The background though does give a Silent Hill vibe.
@sybren and connectivity issues will go from "creepy skype datamosh" to "disturbing videogame glitch happening to your beloved ones right in your face".
At least I really hope it will. This would be very fun. 😈
@grainloom "That is not exactly "simple" and it means the environments can't run in parallel"
In theory there could be an add-on that adds a little UI to switch between configs (if it doesn't exist already). Also, you can run 2 Blender instances in parallel with different configs since Blender only reads the userpref file at launch time.
@grainloom If you're thinking about Sheep it, I wouldn't have high hopes for that. Last time I checked, even the built-in add-ons weren't supported.
@grainloom Ok I see what you mean and I actually like your idea. In fact I think it will be more and more requested if add-ons get bigger and become more reliant on dependencies.
@grainloom
There's a file called userpref.blend in the configuration folder (on Linux it's ~/.config/blender/2.x/config). You can simply set any preferences you want from within Blender (incl. enabled add-ons), save the prefs, copy the file and give it a name like "low poly config". Then whenever you want your low poly config you just copy that file back and name it userpref.blend.
As for "having a package manager for add-ons" Isn't it exactly what the Add-ons tab in the user prefs is?
@grainloom Why not simply use multiple preference files ?
@wilbr You can also take the wiki page I made as a model for making yours :
