My daughter graduated with a BSc Hons. degree from the University of St Andrews this week. Just watching the YouTube recording of the ceremony - so much Latin!
@NYbill I know the backlog problem well. I currently have an 8Gb backlog - and I'm retired and listen to podcasts for a large proportion of the day! I might have too many subscriptions...
@NYbill Oh, I assumed you'd heard that one when I mentioned it! Yes, the next one is about apostrophes, which was a lesson I either didn't listen to as a kid or was badly explained. Hope it's useful to some when I finally release it.
@lnxw48a1@bthall Glad you're enjoying the #Awk series. I'm currently planning episode 12. My collaborator's handle is b-yeezi (on #HPR anyway), but I don't believe he's on GS, Mastodon, or whatever
@lnxw48a1 Some random ideas: 1. You have recently relocated; speak about the significant differences in your new location. 2. You spent some time in verbal "battles" with GNU Social bots in the past; discuss bot technology perhaps? 3. I first encountered you via a mailing list that @NYbill maintained; speak about email encryption and GPG; look at the current EFAIL exploit?
@mcnalu@NYbill Andrew, just added your comment to HPR2551. Ken and I are working on a solution to the problem of espeak mangling names and handles. I have added a new field to the database and have rewritten some names so espeak gets them right. When it's eventually released it'll be "AnyBill" no more (and not "Nibble" either, and we can say goodbye to "Thel Ove Bug" too) 😉
@mcnalu Hi Andrew. That's a great idea. I have a database where I keep HPR show ideas, so I'll dig about in there and see if I can find something to suggest.
@NYbill@theru I bought a 'rubber bulb syringe' recently to help flush out pen nib assemblies. A very useful device for getting out old ink. Amazon sell them (in the UK anyway).
@pokey@NYbill Ah mea culpa! Having met at OggCamp many years ago I should have remembered. However, in my experience, handedness doesn't affect the inkiness of the fingers. The left-handed issue of smearing the stuff you just wrote is always there I know, but it's a law of the Universe that ink finds the fingers of the pen wielder.
@NYbill@theru Sometimes it's an indication that you need to give the pen a good clean. Wash out the barrel and nib, and possibly the cap. Sometimes the pen gets a knock while capped and drops ink in there that transfers to the grip. I spent much of my high school days with inky fingers I have to tell you though. Also, if you look at any of the pen channels on YouTube there are many inky fingers to be seen there 😃
