@klaatu Fully with you on the desire to repair rather than throw and replace, but in my experience some plastics can be sheer hell to reattach. I'd expect early failure unless you drill the broken bits and put a bolt through them! Ideally the bolt would also go though the metal - plus use epoxy of course, to further reinforce the whole thing...

@klaatu Given you need to make two pieces of plastic adhere to one another and to a piece of metal I'd go for epoxy. I'd expect the fix to be fairly short-lived though, and would consider investing in an all-metal pair of scissors for the long term.

Pretty tired after a great evening with @beni & Mrs @beni. Old as I am I suspect they might be more tired after arriving by train in the early hours of this morning and riding a lot of miles around Edinburgh! Great to see them though 😃

@beni Obviously well planned. We were fascinated by your bike last time, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you have for this visit.

@beni A lot more convenient than flying where you have to reassemble your bike in some guy's garage 😉

@beni I took my kids on a holiday in 2004 where we spent a week in London then took the Eurostar to Paris for a week. I'd made a big fuss about travelling in a train under the sea but I guess I over-sold it and it was an anti-climax. London & Paris were cool though 😃

@notclacke @ralph @lain @deadsuperhero @moonman @xj @cwebber Not sure. Oddly the flights between Scotland and Brussels seem to be more inconvenient than they were.

@jonkulp My son's friend, with his new wife, visited from Michigan a few years ago. We drove to St Andrews because it's a pretty little university town, about 55 miles away. Getting there took forever because it's an agricultural area and it was around harvest time, so lots of tractors were on the narrow windy roads. They couldn't believe 55 miles could be such a long journey!

@jonkulp Carnoustie is about 75 miles north of here, a drive of about 1 hr 30 min due to the relatively small roads. There was a golf thing at Gullane recently, about 25 miles from here. The roads are very busy when there's such an event.

@lnxw48a1 Since I have a degree in Biology and have kept rabbits, it's a word I knew. I have also used it in conversation - with the daughter who just got *her* degree in Biology ;-) There are some great conversations in this household!
I believe that because digestive systems tend not to be 100% efficient, there's a myriad of niches out there for the Dung Beetle and others of a similar persuasion.
Interesting subject!

@NYbill It can be arranged...
Enjoyed the show. I've been putting off doing surface mount stuff myself, but I do have some solder paste and a fine tip for my soldering iron.
I envy the binocular microscope though. I loved using them as a Biology student.

@NYbill I'm amused that the summary for show 2591 (which I'm just listening to) is spoken as "Any Bill troubleshoots a DIY kit of Ken Fallen's". Our name pronunciation fixes only went so far ;-)

@bobjonkman I think it was 24°C at its hottest with up to 66% humidity. That's hot for this part of the world.

@beni @NYbill Don't some audio formats have chapters? I've heard of them but know nothing about them. I don't think RockBox can deal with them, for example. I've also seen the cuesheet idea, which RockBox does support (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cue_sheet_(computing)). You'd need to have times for all the articles of course.

@chalkahlom Thanks very much. It was hard work for her, but she really enjoyed the last couple of years as she specialised in the Behavioural Biology aspects of the course
