@sean there is an extremely small portion of people who view abortion in any way related to birth control. And in those cases those folks would prefer to use other methods by and far. They're just either price or restricted out of getting those other methods. Again, by conservatives who believe those shouldn't exist as birth control either.

It really is more of an anti-women having sexual autonomy argument than an anti-abortion one.

@sean I haven't seen anyone say that women should have the right to choose up to the moment of delivery. It seems like that extreme is mostly made up by conservative media to try to make their extreme position seem more reasonable.

They're basically trying to shift the Overton Window so that they fit in a few standard deviations from reasonable. They don't.

If you want to see all the crazy in the anti-abortion discussion, it is all on display in this article.

My favorite crazy is that the council was concerned about a statement for an article given in '91 by someone who died in '11.

@paperdigits Schwab used to have a deposit only account I always thought I would hook to PayPal someday.

Never grabbed one though, and now I don't think they exist.

I think that's a good idea, wish more folks would offer it.

@Are0h @freakazoid I think that's a good point, but I'm not sure of how to determine whether someone is a problem in an interview.

Any suggestions on specific questions or lines of questioning that would help to figure it out?

@nolan from my perspective I don't like publishing them at the same time just because I don't have time to respond to the feedback from each.

Not sure that's an "engagement" thing as much as managing my own time. Managing what I have time to engage with.

Just cracked open the boxes of tshirts for Texas Linux Fest to take a peek.

    They're very cool.

If you're nearby, come for the tshirt, stay for all the interesting talks.

Love how much everything is integrated and right at hand. Calendar entries, quick swipe. Replies, quick swipe. etc. etc.

@freakazoid @nolan I see what you're saying, but I think there'll always be people who don't care about improving tools.

In High School I had a friend who really didn't care at slightest how a car works. They used one everyday, and I imagine they still do, but it wasn't interesting to them. They cared how it solved their problems.

Some folks don't want to be tool builders, they want to do something else in their lives. Not that they can't, but they don't want to.

@nolan as someone who's been involved in the consumer side of OSS for a while, I'd say that really, people don't care.

But that's okay, they don't need to. The reality is that today the builders of their tools realize that OSS is the best way to build good tools. It has become a best practice.

The best builders will want to work with OSS workflows and the best builders will build the best tools. The best tools will then be underpinned by OSS.

Love the idea of bringing science to everyone, but I have to say I'm a little nervous about making biolabs this accessible.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/feles/feles-one-for-bio-imagineering

It feels like we still don't have a grasp of the safety issues stemming from people making and releasing potentially dangerous biology into the world. I realize we can't keep the knowledge in a bottle, but wow, a whole new set of problems are coming.

Probably attracts a different audience than what they're targeting.
