@ted
In the past (don't ask for dates) you'd use the arcfour family. Today some aes-cbt as it seems.

@bignose yeah, that's probably the case. It just feels a bit wrong using keys of thousands of bytes for what is effectively a local socket.

Which SSH keys are the *fastest*?
It seems that no one talks about this, but I'm SSH'ing into a container in my machine, I have no security concerns. I really want to use as little math as possible. But I can't seem to find which key types are actually the fastest.
Seems like a reasonable question? Or is that only for auth and another encryption is used for the connection?

@cwebber I found this story which talks a bit about what VC's are interested in for OSS:
https://lwn.net/Articles/786068/
Apparently they love the idea of Open Core, we didn't do a good enough job of explaining to them that we used that with a negative connotation.

@xor bias, because I worked on it. But I think it's pretty grand.
@sergiusens hangs out here and works on it today.

Promoting Texas Linux Fest and had someone tell me they wouldn't come because we have a Code of Conduct.
I think they thought I'd react to it. Nope, I'm good with them not coming.
I guess having a Code of Conduct really does help keep jerks out.

Running `git gc` on one of my repositories has resulted in Git using 5.2GB of RAM (13GB virtual) and 1600 minutes of CPU time. Insane.
I feel like this is something I should do occasionally but it has such a crazy high cost.

Good planning meeting for Texas Linux Fest, things are coming together, about 45 days away.
Nothing makes it more real than getting the first part of the schedule up: https://2019.texaslinuxfest.org/schedule.html
If you haven't yet, also make sure to register: https://2019.texaslinuxfest.org/

@kensanata it is, but I can't take any credit for that. Sensei Russ has had an amazing vision bringing it to reality piece by piece.

@jalcine @blackaf I think if AP does catch on businesses will use their own DNS for their accounts.
It is basically what the Twitter checkmark was originally designed for, so that you can verify that they match up with the official site.
I imagine at some point having $brand@m.s will be purely for parody accounts.

@HerraBRE I think probably a better business case could be made with bundling.
Probably people who pay for a VPN would like to have better DNS even when they're not using the VPN for instance. They also trust their VPN provide a bunch already.

@Gargron I guess when you think of it as watching your friends, it is creepy. I hadn't thought of that.
I'm more curious to see people who are ideologically different from me. Like: "What does President Trump see on Twitter?"
Sure I'd be a bit scared to find out, but imagine I'd also learn a whole lot.

@Gargron I think it would be also interesting to see what someone else's home feed looks like. Walk a mile in their shoes per se.
If course, would only work for public posts, but think it would still have value in perhaps increasing empathy.

@Gargron I don't really like it, glad to have found Pinafore. Seems like it should be an "advanced" UI.
