It's at Market & Jessie East in downtown San Francisco. I walk past it as often as I can because I love it so much. It's almost hidden, too — it's in a little side street so you can't see it at all unless you're standing right on that block. I looked up the artist and found out BiP is responsible for some of my favorite murals all over the city. Some of them are more visible than "No Ceiling", but being a hidden gem just makes this one a little more special.

"Lawrence of Arabia" is a great movie in so many ways, but it does have that ghastly, lazy colonialist narrative of the colonizer showing up and being better at being a native than the actual natives (see also "Dances with Wolves" and "Avatar"). But I think, for art's sake, it's important to be able to acknowledge a work's flaws and still appreciate the things it does well. Unlike "Avatar" and "Wolves", there are real things to appreciate about "Lawrence".

Yeah, a lot of shops can be a bit pricey, but you can usually use eBay to figure out what's a reasonable price. I'd love to see your photos if you feel like sharing.

Old film cameras are so cool — I love how hands-on they are and how much fun it is to develop a skill. I just get the film developed at a lab and then scan it at home. I haven't ordered prints of anything yet, but maybe if I have a few favorites I could put them on the wall.
