@hal good point, but it does save money by being both a handheld and a home console, so no need to buy the same game twice if you wanna play it on the go.
plus, if you find one that's old enough, there's hacks on the horizon. so piracy might be a thing soon.

@hal switch. ps4 probably has more games currently if she doesn't have/want a decent pc to play games on. but the switch is getting a lot of pc games ported to it, is both portable and can be used on a tv, and splatoon 2 is extremely good...

@ky0ko my understanding is that mobile gpus are comparable to desktop ones only on paper, but perform around half as well in practise thanks to having less available power and horrible heat dissipation

i haven't seriously used a laptop for games since i got my first desktop graphics card - a really shitty outdated one too, it had like 256mb of gddr3 - a bit less than a decade ago. they're just not meant for it

it's not a perfect idea, and it sure isn't very accessible, but i feel if we keep thinking along these lines instead of thinking about voting, protest, and other mostly ineffective and trivial things that don't really challenge our worldviews or leave our comfort zones, then maybe we'll find something even better. or improve our existing ideas.
