i think the game that i forgot about may have actually been a game i already looked for and could not find any torrent for, so i've been desperately trying to remember what game that was for nothing

@ratbaby i'm torn. because on one hand, it's a good way to see what current events are going on/what most people are talking about to either get involved/join the discussion, or avoid it if you'd like.

on the other hand, i've rarely used it myself and mostly just find it annoying and sometimes alienating? like...i don't care about most trending topics, and the people that usually do are already talking about them anyway?

not to mention harmful things can pop up there pretty easily

@monorail i keep crashing because i'm literally looking at my phone or the onscreen gps and not paying attention to the road

so we just kinda got swept up in this huge social network wave that brought us across most of a decade until things started spinning out of control so quickly that we were snapped out of it.

well, that's what my experience seemed to be like anyway.

i think this "feels like 2010 happened yesterday" phenomenon may have something to do with current big social networks going heavily mainstream around then?

basically everyone was getting on social media at that time, even if they hadn't even used myspace or other ancient platforms before. now they're some huge part of life

computers and internet connections have gotten fast enough to pretty much instantly buffer youtube videos (at least in my case) and it's often super distressing when i accidentally end up opening a youtube page and don't have enough time to close it before it autoplays

@jk it has this strange sense of dysphoria with it on top of being inconvenient too. it feels absolutely wrong
