my only concern is that this old house hasn't had its electrical properly updated beyond the breaker itself, so there's no ground wire. had to replace a lot of the outlets with 3-prongs myself, but again, no ground wire :/

@vantablack you're literally being asked to shed a couple words from your vocabulary that hurt people, and have dozens of alternatives, yeah it takes a little bit of effort and yeah there'll be mistakes until you've fully adapted but it also takes a lot of effort for other people to put up with seeing this stuff everywhere and feeling further stigmatised

@vantablack if you really want to use ableist language, at the very least tag your stuff as ableism

@vantablack you can just say chaotic. ridiculous. silly. absurd. so many other good words that don't remind people about how their mental health is a running joke. some people can handle seeing casual ableism every day, but some people also need to have the ability to avoid it within at least a few of their daily interactions

@InspectorCaracal usually "fursona" is commonly used to convey some sort of personal connection, but it can also just fit any character you come up with if that's how you want to use it. and if you're okay with others perceiving that character as an extension of yourself in some way

@InspectorCaracal it can pretty much just be anything you want it to be, but will most likely be perceived as a representation of yourself in some way, or at the very least a character through which you express ideas.

@InspectorCaracal the general consensus seems to be that it is a non-human animal character that represents you, or is controlled/owned by you, in some way.

it can literally be you, just be a small part of you, be some sort of mask/costume you put on to temporarily escape being you/something you live vicariously through, or even just...something you like to show others and say "that's my fursona" without any strong personal connection or any further interaction with it
