the pixel 2 xl cannot output video over a wired interface except supposedly with some expensive and sketchy usb-to-video adapters. if you want to output video you need a chromecast and iirc you can't use a custom rom?

the perfect phone for me would include:
- slide-out physical backlit keyboard, dvorak layout
- dedicated camera button
- hdmi/thunderbolt 3 over usb-c

and basically just lay that all on top of the pixel 2 xl

i don't think smartphones are getting "too big" tbh, i think that the current size of like 6" is about a perfect ratio for still fitting in one's pocket and hand while having a large enough screen to see and actually use without missing all the touch buttons and keys on the virtual keyboard all the time

honestly i want to have a physical keyboard on a phone more than anything but i'll never find one that i like, and as an additional nitpick, none will ever feature dvorak

i wonder how long it'll take for people to take features way too far on a smartphone to the point where nobody enjoys using them

the latest fixation on tiny bezels seems to be going that direction. i'm already accidentally touching the screen on my phone just by holding it. it's been happening less since i got it half a year ago but it's still a pain

@hoodie if you use google play services with the voice assistant you can be all "hey google, set a reminder to <thing> in <time>"

i forget which app it uses though

also had a dream that @monorail and i were playing some strategy game that involved a bunch of little blocks almost exactly the same as the ones pictured below, where you had to build some sort of city and the blocks represented certain resources you needed to sustain your population

we also took separate cars to go out to a food place despite the fact that i couldn't legally drive and the car i was driving wasn't mine

i had a dream that @codl lived a few houses down from my dad's house in canada, and i was at my dad's place for whatever reason. i was going over to codl's place because there was an ingress portal right outside that i wanted to take over, but i couldn't figure out how to play because it had been so long?
