I finally deleted my facebook account today. Uninstalled messenger and de-activated the fb app on my android. I feel pain and relief simultaneously.. #leavefacebook#lifedesicions
Feels good to sit down and code a bit today.
I'm coding on my #vulkan project, I've decided to make 'wasd + mouse' movement first. Have to start somewhere, so adding that making things more fun, I hate static views. And since it's using GLFW it makes things easy (grab inputs and all that).
I'm doing a full OS upgrade on https://diasporapod.no tonight (I start in about 3 hours). I'll take a full snapshot first, just in case. So expect some slight downtime during this process.
As I have mentioned before - I’m having some trouble with my pod being slow.
It does not seem to be the web server part, more database related. I will see if I can get it fixed once and for all. I have started to look into it again now. And I’m currently asking around.
The server has 8GB RAM, SSD and plenty of CPU so it’s at least not the hardware that’s the issue either.
Currently the server runs on Ubuntu, if I’m unable to resolve it then I will deploy a new installation on CentOS on some spare hardware that I’ve got, then replicate everything and see if it runs better.
If so then I can migrate the ubuntu server over to CentOS and run it on that. I will notify in advance what the plan will be. Either way - I just wanted to say again that I’m looking into things. I do not like it when it’s sluggish like it is now. #podmin#diaspora

Here is the same one with U and V roughness, gives impression of frosted glass. I like this effect. I'm adding the support for that texture as well now, nice for making frosted logos on glass and such. #b3d
Working on my PBRT exporter for blender tonight, continuing the texture work, currently working on the different texture slots for glass materials. in this sample I have added a texture in the reflection slot, gives you some cool effects to play with. More to come soon! #b3d
I'm trying to perhaps take the step over to the #Linux world some time from the #Apple world. On the #Mac and #iPad there is a program called #Pixave which is a very good #DAM (Digital Asset Manager, Digitalt mediearkiv in Swedish) for my photos and films. It can be operating locally on your computer but it can also have the files in #iCloud and synced to your Macs and iPads. Extremely good!
Now I have tried almost all DAMs I could find to Linux #Mint 19 and I can't have all the functions that Pixave has: Cloud sync, showing #RAW-files and starting photo editing software like #GIMP with a specified photo as far as I can see. There is one more problem: I have a little Synology server where I also have my photos and I would like to look at those and organize them through a Wi-Fi connected computer. The problem is that I can't see the RAW-files in the DAMs I tested. Several times I can't get the server accessible from the DAM and other times it isn't possible to display the RAW-files even if I can reach the server. Jpg files shows up nicely.
For the Mac I'm waiting for the terrific program Luminar 2018 to have DAM functions (in the next release) and that solves the problem with the server. I'm not keen on using Lightroom and Photoshop since those programs are much too expensive subscriptions.
Anyone having those things working on a Linux machine and can give me a tip on what program to use?
Last one for today - metal shader exports as it should now. Ill port more stuff tomorrow. Nice to finally have this fast progress on this project. #b3d
Ive been working on a exporter for blender in my free time, still working on it, currently moving the shader c code over to python so that I can release it as a simple addon instead of having to compile blender from source.
Today I ported the Pbrt Disneyshader GUI, still some things to fix - some nice default values (and so that you can set texture as input as well). But its moving forward. Ill get the remaining shaders done tonight if get some time to sit down properly with it. #b3d
