@feynman Your trip reminds of the summer my cousin and I bicycled from Amsterdam to Narbonne Plage(sp?) to meet our family that was on vacation there. Halfway through France it was drudgery. He was in much better shape than me and I struggled to keep up. I couldn't wait to get there. The bikes rode home on the roof of my uncle's car. Now I wish we'd had the time to ride home.

Most employers ask on their application if you've ever been convicted of a felony. If they later find out you lied on your application, most employers will fire you for that offense.
A person that started working in my group ran afoul of this policy. They were firing him for it when our company heard from his lawyer threatening a lawsuit since he was convicted AFTER hiring on although the incident happened before hire.
I don't know your circumstances or the rules in your state. It might be well worth the time and money to explore getting the felony conviction expunged from your record if possible.
Rules concerning childhood felonies differ from state to state so it's hard to know unless you're very familiar with the rules in that state. On top of that, there are options to convict minors as adults, further muddying the waters. @r000t 's experience is living proof that in the USA, we have the best justice system money & influence can buy.
Back to work after 4 days off with a short interlude last night. I'm finding it hard to get back in the grind.
We had my youngest daughter's 18th birthday yesterday. Today is my youngest son's 15th.
There's an empty nest at the end of the tunnel.
I wish there was an employment change on the horizon but I'm finding it's very out of style to hire an old white dude. Even if he's easily the most qualified candidate.
