@louisoft01 I'm sure that's a factor. The MPs getting worried by it and talking in Parliament are concerned that it breaks content filters and website blocks. I think ISPA have mostly been reacting to the prospect of MPs blaming tech companies for the failure of their filtering and blocking.

@louisoft01 Government and the IWF think censorship is a good thing. It's clearly not a very well thought out strategy.

@louisoft01 ISPA and IWF have been running a campagn against #doh - basically to say 'if censorship becomes less effective, don't blame us, blame Google and Mozilla'

Today's ISPA UK awards no longer feature @mozilla as Internet villain.
https://www.ispa.org.uk/ispa-withdraws-mozilla-internet-villain-nomination-and-category/
ISPA's list of points around DNS over HTTPS #doh are (mostly) reasonable points to consider.
Good to see some common sense break out, albeit sad that #article13 can't now win the category

Note ISPA's secretariat is run by Political Intelligence who work for the IWF also.
Both have an interest in showing that limitations to Internet blocking are not in their control.
Far be it from anyone to suggest that the ISPA UK awards are less than impartial.

@jim Yeah, I find demonization of @mozilla really frustrating. It's emblematic of why well-intentioned people can't have nice things.

Nominating @mozilla as Internet Villain does not seem justifiable. DoH is a response to interference with DNS, sometimes including censorship, and interception of DNS results by state actors.
It smacks of ISPAUK's members wanting to blame someone else for impacts of #doh on UK filtering and blocking.

@Maltimore Over time, yes, around 500k seems to be the number. That's a little surprising given that Mastodon has some particular new user bases

Any thoughts about the levels of activity on #mastodon / #activitypub ? Is it picking up or slowing down? What's our evidence?
