@tessaracht This reminds me that I really need to post a blog article detailing how to build one's own WiFi router with Linux. It's quite easy, much more secure, and fast! :)
"President Trump’s commerce secretary may have bilked business associates out of more than $120 million and could rank “among the biggest grifters in American history...”
The investigation — which included interviews with 21 people who have worked closely with Wilbur Ross in the past — alleges that that the 80-year-old stole “a few million here and a few million there” throughout his career as an investment banker, Forbes reports."
@tessaracht I'm sorry to bring that up while you're upset and probably just venting. I felt I should say something because, as I'm sure you know, what we say matters and has impact.
@tessaracht ooh. I know you're upset but it's not cool to call people of a certain ethnicity, gender, or sexuality cancer, even if it's privileged cis white men. This guy was an asshole. No group of people is cancer.
We shouldn't tolerate people talking about us like that, so we should definitely not do it to others either.
Also, we shouldn't assume people's sexuality or cis/transness, or that such would have anything to do with their behaviour.
@upshotknothole@craigmaloney ah. I know PHP isn't a great language, but I wouldn't say WordPress is shit. It's actually quite solid, especially for most people's needs. We support quite a number of corporate and government sites that run WordPress at work (I work at a devops firm. We also support many other frameworks and languages) and they've been going really well for years.
I always find configuring Nginx annoying, and in practise, it's not significantly faster for most use cases (especially when using static asset cache, and other caching), in my experience. 😒
@jamey@NerdResa I believe that's correct. I suspect that because different browsers do it differently. So they probably aren't all relying on the same libraries or OS internals, etc.
