American liberals fetishize Canada because it's perpetually about as fucked-up as the US was ten years ago, but not significantly ideologically different.

My next plan is to stop using NetworkManager for the ethernet, returning to the /etc/network/interfaces approach, like in the old days.

I upgraded an old laptop to #Debian #Buster over the weekend. When it boots, it connects to the Internet through the #ethernet, as it should. But when the laptop goes to sleep, it loses the network connection, and then #NetworkManager is unable to reconnect.

    Suggestions?

    #GospelToday (Mt 11:25-27)
At that time Jesus said in reply, "I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.

Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.

There's a bunch of new people here recently, so I think I'll say a few things that will scare off many of the sorts of people that we don't want here

It is the official policy of scholar.social that:

🍍 Nazis should have their speech curtailed at every opportunity
🍍 Supporters of Jordan Peterson or Milo Yiannopoulos—leave now
🍍 There is no such thing as "reverse racism"
🍍 Vaccines don't cause autism, and for that matter, autistic people are equally valuable!

"Trump's tweets have always been tailored to generate a gut response. The trick--and I admit it took me months longer than it should have to take this to heart--is to allow yourself a brief cooling down period, consider his target audience and their gut response...ask yourself what was the purpose of Trump's tweet, and did he achieve it. Do that, and you'll find that while Trump takes a lot of flak for his tweets, it's almost always because he's directly over his target."
