"Sa gouverne du pays trahit la superficialité et l'improvisation comme s'il ne maîtrisait pas la complexité des enjeux, les arbitrages nécessaires entre des objectifs divergents, et avait peu d'intérêt pour la mise en place d'actions concrètes." -- Jean-Yves Lajoie, dans *La Presse*
By combining MRI tech with a scanning tunneling microscope, researchers were able to visualize the electron configuration of individual atoms. You can see the cloud move around, as well as their magnetic fields. It's something I wanted to see when I took HS physics and now it's happened. I love science.
@tootbrute I've been reading Kaplan in *The Atlantic* for years, and he certainly seems insightful. Since he's writing about a part of the world with which you are familiar, please do let me know if you think he gets it right.
While I'm very sympathetic to the desire of Hongkongers for liberty and democracy, I hate seeing people attack the LegCo buildings. Rule of law is essential to human well-being; as Hong Kong's past demonstrates, with rule of law one can have freedom and prosperity, even in the absence of democracy.
Even in a narrow sense, sacking the legislature may be counterproductive. Beijing may crackdown, not back off.
Anti-extradition protesters in Hong Kong tied a British colonial-era flag to the parliament podium in LegCo this evening, after breaking down barriers and storming into the government headquarters earlier tonight.
Protesters also defaced the Bauhinia crest of Hong Kong with spray paint, and were videotaped destroying office equipment. #HongKong

Otto Frisch, Austrian physicist & refugee from Nazis: "This project could make a weapon of unparalleled violence; probably some Germans are already making one."
@hhardy01 Look, one of the most important themes of political fiction is how good can arise even from the works of fallible men, and how men with good intentions are corrupted by power. You must see *All the King's Men*.
