@mattcropp @ghost The Knights of Columbus is not actually dedicated to celebrating Christopher Columbus and the conquest of the New World. It is a fraternal association of #Catholic men based in the US.
According to Wikipedia, "In 2018, The Knights gave US$185,682,989 million directly to charity and performed over 75,640,244 million man-hours of voluntary service." So a basically positive group.

I was driving a borrowed car on a long trip by myself today, so I ended up listening to somebody else's radio station presets. I heard a show on Stanford university student radio where they played music by black women artists through the decades starting with the 1930s. It was, no kidding, the single best playlist I've ever heard on the radio.

The article is in the Entertainment section, but the question is actually a good one.
The Ivy League doesn't really provide a better education than U of T, or many other Canadian universities. The importance of entry into a top US university is that their alumni form the American elite, like the graduates of the Grandes écoles in France.
All societies have elites. What is the gateway to being part of the Canadian #elite ?
