this morning it was fruit o'clock. I so very much enjoy spending timeless moments in the thick of the plant- picking, picking. -It's more like 'gentling' you only have to touch the fruit and it falls off. Too much pressure will squish it, and it is far more juicy than a raspberry. It has LOVED the hot weather and I've never known fruit like this before. I picked 2 kilos this morning. (and had the same earlier in the week) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubus_phoenicolasius #garden #fruit #smallstories

βIn the end the sea rejects its offspring. They cannot fight their way home through the surf which casts them repeatedly back upon the shore ... The sea-beach and its endless war are soundless. Nothing screams but the gulls.β

Along the path I often walk are small frog ponds that often go dry for much of the year. But we've had plenty of rain, so the ponds are brimming full. I glanced down to notice one of the frog areas looking golden brown in the sun, as if some discarded metals had leeched out rust. It was beautiful, really. A closer look revealed that what seemed like rust was instead multiple layers of dead leaves, last Autumn's forgotten dead painting the world in bronze. Yet not a frog in sight. #smallstories

Something fluttered, caught in my peripheral vision. I stopped, looked down. On the side of the pathway, a large brown moth with fluffy green body -- which I at first mistook for a butterfly -- was balanced on the edge of a broken stump. Its wings were moving quickly but it was going nowhere, fast, just beating time to some internal engine. I wondered if it was hurt, just gearing up for flight, or just being a moth. I left it there, with its engine running, and kept on walking. #smallstories

@dajbelshaw I like links and curation notes. Images are fine but not what gets me reading. I look for voice of newsletter curator most of all.
