@lauraritchie I've always been a devotee of the Roman Empire, but of course to me Roman stuff is rare.
I remember how excited I was to see my first Roman stuff. It was a Roman gate in Milan in 2003. I still hunt out Roman ruins anywhere I am where they were...
@lauraritchie I'm a bit surprised you simply reburied them and didn't have them studied in any way (I also hope you included a message in the new burial place so people in the future would know they had been moved).
On the other hand, such finds are probably a lot more routine where you are than where I am.
@katebowles@tellio@dogtrax 'Feldgang' is a great word. It captures something I do all the time, but never put a name to.
What strikes me as key is that you're not going out with any predetermined outcome or objective in mind. You're just going out to see what there is to see.
I would include my city walks that I take when I'm traveling and my bicycle rides through the country around here. The idea is to experience what there is to be experienced. The ideas just flow.
Prompted by a sketch on CBC radio, I was curious this morning to see how Google would answer the question, "Does God exist?" To my mild surprise, the first page of results consisted of statements that God does, in fact, exist.
I don't know whether or not God exists. But I have no good reason to believe that God exists. No evidence to suggest existence. No reason not to disbelieve.
You can avoid #YouTube's weird algorithms and broken subscription system by subscribing to channels through RSS instead. You don't need an account, just a feed reader.
@sleslie I have some people who email me (from when I visited a few years ago) - I asked and they said they definitely feel it but they're getting by. I worry for them but I don't think there's anything we can do.
