Goodnight. Sleep softly. Sleep deeply. Quiet sets gently here as the light begins to fade.
These long evenings are wonderful.

@Algot no worries! Sometimes grammar gets in the way of intent.
I appreciate the connection, it’s a line I hadn’t drawn before. Thank you
I've finally put together a short post about the cello weekend I led in April! It includes a video of the concert. https://wp.me/p4Ng5z-15Q
If images could capture smell... honeysuckle with jasmine in the background as present as the warmth of the sun
@dadegroot if I start digging and keep digging, do I eventually get to your pizza oven?
(I'm not quite sure that's how the Earth is built,- in fact I'm quite sure it's not(!!) but it's fun to think of how it turns and being on the opposite end of the world)
Clouds looking like birds in the solstice sky. Very much enjoying the long light tonight.
@danwchan just reading the titles made me think of my favourite book as a small child:
Whose mouse are you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjhygDyC3ks
@dadegroot yikes! hope you're not stuck at a desk all that time...
up for my 6 am video tutorial with students in Hong Kong.
thankful for the early morning light - makes these early ones easier!
@theartguy last days were always special for me, and yes, I was one of those students who genuinely missed the teachers over the summer.
@Downes it was only someone's suggestion https://twitter.com/SethAbramson/status/1009273393978408960
...but very good one
@drbjork Life can definitely be tricky, but hang on in there.
An amazing talk by Zadie Smith - upon receiving the Welt Literature Prize in Berlin. She talks about life, the world, and everything - from her perspective as a Black woman looking at society today. I caught the last 10 mins on my drive into work today and I had goosebumps and was nearly brought to tears.
If you can vpn it to listen via the UK, here's the link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b48tqq
It is worth your time.
@tellio @drbjork cheesy song to the rescue? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqLRd4neGGE
seriously, a simple hello and a willingness to converse is sometimes all it takes. -without judgement, without expectation, and with a smile.
(and I'm not good at it either)
@drbjork I was thinking that too a while back, and I wrote this:https://wp.me/p4Ng5z-14V
3 essays to go.
just saying. :)
Great park day with the tots.
We went to Borden Park #yeg because I like being surrounded by the trees, it has great play structures and even a great art piece.
The children did enjoy a slide or two but the true joy was in the friends they made and games they invented together (which only involved grass and a picnic table)
I asked what the names of their playmates were. They didn't know, but could tell me in detail the games they liked to play together. There's some 3yr old wisdom in that.
I'm still grading papers. This slow reading thing drags me down at this time of year. However fast I can talk is how fast I read. At least the students are writing interesting things, and it's gone rainy outside. So a good read is a nice thing.
@Downes that's baaaaad

(I don't know how to embed a gif!)
@Downes now that one is definitely not a goose
