I'm running a personal instance of !GNUsocial for myself (https://gs.jonkman.ca), an old instance of #StatusNet (http://sn.jonkman.ca) that I'm maintaining because it has groups that I want to preserve, a StatusNet instance for @LaurelRusswurm@s.russwurm.com that also has a bunch of groups I want to preserve, and, online #AnyDayNow, a public instance at @KWLUG, my local Linux Users Group (configuration stymied by security settings at a level that prevent webapps from running). Don't join that yet; I may have to nuke it to fix its problems.

What did that Reddit user expect? Putting sensitive info in a Google sheet is dumb, and sharing the link on Facebook is dumber. These companies exist to mine your data, then sell the metadata to the highest bidder. They're not "search engines" or "social media platforms" but !surveillance agencies that are monetized though advertising.
Yup, I couldn't see the Mastodites either until I created a proper !GNUsocial server. But threading in GS is a bit borken, and I can't subscribe to my own groups on my old StatusNet instance. Of course, I'm running the bleeding edge of GS from 3 months ago, so that may have something to do with it.
