    I know I'm not posting much about #mnm (https://mnm.social) these days and the project is in maintenance mode.

    However, someone asked me to release a dump of the data I gathered about Mastodon instances, to use it for a reasearch project and I thought you may be interested.

    This is more than a year of anonymous data about instances, users, status, localisation, etc.

    @noorul there is no clear consensus on the boundaries of these terms. As a rule of thumb, the birdsite (like the #fediverse) is a micro-blogging site, because it's more about *publishing* short posts to a network of subscribers who may not know you. FB is a social network because it's designed around establishing 2-way "friend" connections between people who already know each other.

    Bitte berücksichtigt, dass das #Fediverse unterschiedliche Systeme beinhaltet wie auch Teilnehmer / Teilnehmerinnen als Heimat dient. So sind auch Menschen mit Seheinschränkungen hier. Ich finde es wichtig, dass wir gemeinsam dann einander helfen und von daher sollten nicht nur Bilder respektive Bildschirmfotos hinterlegt werden sondern dazu auch entsprechende Beschreibungen und Texte selbst sofern es sich um Beiträge von andernorts handelt. #Hinweis #Gemeinsam #Vielfalt

    Addendum: Und auch in den dezentralen Netzwerken findet man derweil wieder die Apologeten, die sich derweil meinen zu amüsieren auf Basis der Befürchtungen und Ängste. Schön, dass ihr so aufgeklärt agiert. Andere haben aber einen anderen Blickwinkel. Wie wäre es damit? Hört ihnen zu, dann beginnt auch wirklich ein Miteinander. Äußerungen wie "Als sei das Internet frei... Haha. Ha. Ha." helfen genau gar nicht und zeigen nur den bekannten Dualismus. Nur Schwarz oder Weiß! Wie wäre es einfach einmal mit den Grautönen? Und dann langsam zum Weiß kommend? Dafür KÖNNTEN die dezentralen Netzwerke, das #Fediverse durchaus einstehen und eben nicht für eure persönliche Spielwiese. Klar soll sich jeder Teilnehmer, jede Teilnehmerin den eigenen Weg suchen und auch eine schöne Atmosphäre schaffen, ganz nach eigenem Belieben. Aber dieser Humor, der Andere vor den Kopf stößt, ist meines Erachtens respektlos und deplatziert. #Gedanken #Meinung

    @Goffi @wuhei @LWFlouisa true. FB were probably copying 'likes' from YT view counts. Does anybody really pay attention to the number of times a post is favourited or reposted though? I've used quite a few of the #fediverse clients (Gs+Qvitter, Friendica, Pleroma, Mastodon, Masto+Pinafore and others), and none of their UIs noticeably emphasize it.

    @nipos Hmm, hatte da auch an Island initial gedacht. Allerdings ist der gesamte Kampf um das Internet nicht vollends verloren, aber bisweilen doch sehr zum Erliegen gekommen. Und wenn wir realistisch sind: Warum bitte teilen hier im #Fediverse mehr als genügend Teilnehmer noch Inhalte der zentralisierten, proprietären Plattformen? Also #YouTube und Co. Nicht an dich gerichtet, nipos ... sondern einfach hinein in den Raum gefragt. Da ist nicht viel mit "Freiheit" sondern nur noch mit mehr vom Gleichen, auch die sog. "alternativen Medien": Vollkommen hanebüchener Unsinn das Alles inzwischen. Noch dazu sind ja nun auch Tür und Tor offen Zitate beispielsweise zu verbieten, Kritik an Veröffentlichungen der Rechten weiter auszuweiten (Stichwort Kubitschek und sein Machwerk-Verlag). Die EU hat heute ihren eigenen Sargnagel gefertigt und offenkundig nicht begriffen was sie dort getan hat. Aber Herr Voss jubelt natürlich. Ich frage mich nur: Worüber?

    Ich möchte ihm persönlich jetzt nicht einmal Bestechlichkeit unterstellen. Aber das der freie Fluss von Informationen hier auf dem Spiel steht ... scheint ihm nicht so ganz bewusst zu sein.
