    I figured out I'd accidentally followed the #Ring installation instructions for 18.04, not 16.04, so now Trisquel 8 is finding the files for install. But it seems to be having trouble actually getting them downloaded. Not sure if it's my network connection (location / speed), or the fact I'm browsing the #fediverse while trying to do the downloads.

    @inaktion Ja und es ist einfach wichtig auch zu reflektieren. Offen zu schreiben beispielsweise, dass auch hier im #Fediverse ein Beitrag verletzt oder Unverständnis erzeugt. Dabei ist mir hier auch schon die ablehnende Haltung begegnet und als Antwort kam dann der Vorschlag doch schlicht den "Stock aus dem Hintern" zu entfernen. Hier war meine Reaktion dann purer Sarkasmus! Im Rückblick war das wahrscheinlich auch passend genug, aber es bleibt bei mir die Frage, wie wir den Umgang hier besser stellen können. Problem dabei: Das wird oftmals gar nicht gesehen und stattdessen macht Mensch sich dann auch noch lustig darüber. Aber genau dann sind Dinge wie gemeinsame Solidarität gefragt. Allein hier gäbe es mehr als genug Möglichkeiten wie auch Nuancen zur Ausgestaltung! :)

Wo wir also gerade beim Thema sind: Der Herr Robert Nitsch verbreitet auf #Twitter entsprechende "Meinungsbilder". Herr Nitsch, passt da wirklich noch "Dialog statt Hass"? Aber es sind ja "Alles" nur Hypothesen, nur "Fakten". Huch, da ist #Hass resultiert? Das konnte ich ja nicht ahnen.     Hello dear #Fediverse, I'm calling for your help in the development of another implementation of #ActivityPub to federate with everyone. There is a nice place #Juick.com which started more than 10 years ago as a microblogging service via Jabber/XMPP. Over the years the support of posting/commenting via Telegram and by email were added. And now it's time to move further - implement ActivityPub and federate!

    Current developer @vt@juick.com has already done great job in learning specs and implementing the protocol. But he is facing some issues which he can't solve himself.

    So I completely understood specs, implemented those in Juick and can consult others. 8) It's just not federating with other existing instances:

    1) #Mastodon - public servers show profiles from Juick, number of followers and number of messages. But they don't show messages themselves. It's not clear how to diagnose. They don't reply to my bug reports ( https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/8625 ). I also can't run it locally: out of 1Gb of ruby-scripts 500Mb of ruby-scripts with native extentions don't compile successfully on a Mac (how did they manage to use such extentions which are not working on a favourite OS of Ruby developers?). On Linux it also fails most likely due to lack of 1Gb RAM in the virtual machine.

    2) #Pleroma - starts perfectly but it shows only avatars from Juick, the rest - not. And it constantly floods logs with database constraint errors (after searching a user it records this in its db, and then second search doesn't work as it assumes the user already exists!)

    3) #Misskey - that either Japanese or Chinese product, looks weird itself... and I couldn't find user search there.

    What else can I do? I'm ready to drop this and just leave email for users... :)

      #ActivityPub #Красноглазики В общем, в спеке я полностью разобрался, реализовал на жуйке и могу уже консультировать других 8) Вот только с существующими реализациями по-прежнему до конца не федерируется: 1) mastodon - публичные сервера показывают профили с жуйка, число подписчиков и сообщений, самих сообщений не показывает. Как диагностировать - неясно. На мои [репорты](https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/8625) - не отвечают. Запустить локально - не удается: из гигабайта рубискриптов 500мб рубискриптов с нативными расширениями не собираются на маке (это надо сильно постараться, чтоб использовать такие расширения, чтоб не работали на любимой платформе рубидебилов). На линуксе - оно падает видимо по недостаточности гигабайта памяти на виртуалке. 2) plerome - отлично запускается, но показывает с жуйка только аватарки, остальное не показывает, да и вообще срет в лог ошибками констрейнтов в бд (типа один раз поискал пользователя, он его сразу пишет себе в базу, второй поиск уже не работает, ибо в базе такой пользователь уже есть, гениально!) 3) misskey - то ли японское, то ли китайское поделие, выглядит как самтыбаба.ру, поиска сторонних пользователей в ней не нашел. Что еще можно попробовать? Или ну его в жопу и красноглазики обойдутся почтой? :)

    @lohang I'm wary of any community centralizing on one instance. For the benefit of that community, they should disperse widely across the #fediverse. Any particular instance is vulnerable to pressure, censorship, financial conditions, admin burnout.

    @frank @martl83 Kurz hinzugefügt: Die Daten werden natürlich auch mit anderen Instanzen geteilt und dort ebenso gespeichert. Aber es ist insofern deine ureigene Entscheidung was du teilen möchtest und was eben nicht. Wie bereits zuvor betont: Es ist bunt hier und du kannst dir bei Bedarf dann auch irgendwann selbst dein eigenes digitales "Heim" in den dezentralen Netzwerken erstellen - die dafür genutzte Software suchst du dir natürlich auch ebenso selbst aus. Ob nun #Mastodon oder #Pleroma, #GNU-social oder noch ganz Andere? Alles basiert auf deiner eigenen Entscheidung, ebenso wie du das gesamte #Fediverse erkunden möchtest. ;-)

    @kevinmarks @bhaugen don't the #IndieWeb protocols assume one user per domain? Could a multi-user instance of Mastodon or GNU social implement the IndieWeb protocol set in a way that would work for all the users on their domain? I wonder because I know that #BridgyFed was set up as a bridge between the IW and the #fediverse, to translate between the IW protocols and AP etc.

    I just happened to have a peek at the current state of the #fediverse page on Wikipedia. At what point did the meaning of "fediverse" expand to describe all the federated social networks, regardless of what protocol they use? Is this now the accepted usage? Do the XMPP social apps count (Movim, Salut-a-Toi)?

    @anomaly Zuletzt gab es ja auch eine Unterhaltung über die Serie #Futurama und die gesellschaftskritischen Untertöne. Ich bin dafür, dass man solche audiovisuellen Werke unter einem Hashtag beschreibt und sammelt. Für alle Teilnehmer im #Fediverse natürlich wie immer offen. Ich hätte da reichlich Material, mit dem man nicht nur Zeit zerstreut und Unterhaltung bekommt sondern zugleich auch Gedanken anregt. Vorzugsweise dahin sich selbst zu informieren und gesellschaftliche Modelle zu hinterfragen! :)
