    @dragnucs What you said about #OStatus is not really true. #GNU_Social downloads more than just 1 or 2 posts when I subscribe to people, and #Mastodon also does and it did long before they added #ActivityPub.

    The subject field was implemented, but AFAIR, it did not propagate to other instances. I don't know whether it was a plugin or a switch, but I do recall turning it off on an earlier #Federati instance because it only displayed on the posting instance.

    As for "Private" posts, GS used to have a private post mode (using advisory privacy) ... but it was removed because people thought it was really private, but it was leaky at best. And yes, the private posts were federated across #OStatus.

    When I hear about all the "new" halfway-working things in #ActivityPub, almost all of them were tried and discarded in #StatusNet / #GNU_Social before #Mastodon existed.

    Making !GNUsocial work with #ActivityPub is the right thing to do, but I'm not sure that removing OStatus is. Does #Mastodon allow transport protocols to be added as plugins?

    Though I have no problem using #PixelFed on mobile via #Firefox as a Web app, the conversion of other people to the platform from a "wtf is federation" point will be easier with it.

    I can see mastodon.art actually leveraging a #PixelFed server to help people curate their art and use #Mastodon to link longer-form text.

    I have in mind to deal with my #Diaspora* and #Twitter friends via Friendica, but want to have Mastodon as my main account.

    (Because #Mastalab app by @tom79 is the best app ever! Or maybe Tom has an idea to add Friendica accounts as well to Mastalab?)

    @lj_writes I agree with Mike here, AP provides for many functions that aren't yet implemented across all the #fediverse apps, because they couldn't be federated under #OStatus (the older standard #Mastodon adopted from #StatusNet / #GNUsocial) or choices were made not to use them (eg groups in Mastodon). @mike can you recommend the DW crew a more general resource on implementing AP than the Mastodon one they are looking at?

    @StephR it depends on which software you're using. @bhaugen 's suggestion will work for you if you're using the same app as he is (#Mastodon?). Although the long term goal is to achieve as much consistency as possible, each app that connect to the #fediverse has its own peculiarities, and some of them can't always reconstruct threads of conversation from others.
