@karneol Genau das. Dafür wäre es ja auch gedacht und es gibt dazu ebenso weitere Software. Alles aus einer Hand macht aus #Mastodon wieder mehr als es sein sollte: Eine Kontaktmöglichkeit und ein Medium von Vielen für den Austausch. Klar: Auch Informationen gehören dazu! Allerdings sollte man sich auch schnell von der Phrase #Twitter lösen. Letzteres ist nie ein "soziales Netzwerk" gewesen - meiner Meinung - und Ersteres (gemeint wären die dezentralen, quelloffenen Softwareplattformen) hat das wirkliche Potenzial dazu, abhängig von dem Willen der Nutzer und Entwickler.

Most people are not obsessed with #Twitter (and we don't all use the #Birdsite nickname). If you watch some tags for the types of content you're looking for, chances are you'll find more of it, though maybe less than you see on Twitter. Smaller network, fewer people, less content.

if every user self hosted their own #mastodon instance then,
Cons:
- local timeline would be meaningless,
- you would need to rely on interest based searches to find community
- if you belong to a vibrant, enjoyable instance you’d loose the effort-free association
Pros:
- it would be decentralised
- you can avoid being marginalised due to your association
- my experience is not determined by you joining the same instance
- I/you control your privacy and data

@hikerus @nicolai Ich habe keine Möglichkeiten das weiter einzugrenzen. Allenfalls kann ich nur das in einzelne Beiträge unterteilen. Hier hat Hiker das absolut korrekt umschrieben. Bei meiner Instanz habe ich zwar auch ein Maximum hinterlegt. Das übersteigt aber eben die 500 Zeichen und #GNU-social grenzt das dann einfach ein ab einer gewissen Länge. #Pleroma auch! #Mastodon leider eben nicht.

one thing I notice since I joined #mastodon is that I keep wishing for #activitypub version of everything.
Activity pub portfolios (soon hopefully with pixelfed)
activitypub video (peertube) and streams
activitypub blogs.
just remove the social media platform middleman and just have content propagate. I guess this is what rss was supposed to be (but with reblogs 🐧)

Also ich habe gerade einen sog. Beitrag mit Ratschlägen gelesen und möchte dazu meine #Gedanken niederschreiben:

Ja, die föderierten Netzwerke sind nicht #Twitter. Aber es gehören noch weit mehr Teilnehmer dazu, lieber Leser / liebe Leserin. Das sog. "Fediverse" ist NICHT allein nur #Mastodon, auch wenn es derweil so erscheinen mag. Hier unter der nachfolgenden Adresse gibt es weitere Teilnehmer und Software-Applikationen: https://fediverse.party/

Für jeden Geschmack ist etwas dabei und wie man nun auch an meinem Beitrag merkt: Ich nutze KEIN #Mastodon und kann somit keine "Inhaltswarnung" notieren. Auch bin ich NICHT dafür Beiträge nicht als Bildschirmfoto festzuhalten, sofern in diesen problematische Haltungen erkennbar sind. Im Gegenteil: Das täuscht nur darüber hinweg, dass Alles vermeintlich in Ordnung ist. Ist es mitnichten, sofern #Sexismus, #Rassismus, #Ableismus oder #Antisemitismus geäußert werden und Bildschirmfotos dienen dazu sich gegenseitig darüber zu unterhalten und auszutauschn. Und NEIN: Ich folge nicht einfach Teilnehmern, nur um mich an diesen zu stören.

Ach ja: Lange Beiträge kann ich auch nicht via "Inhaltswarnung" verbergen. Ihr merkt also? Es gibt kein homogenes Bildnis und dennoch kann das funktionieren. Das wäre auch der Appell meinerseits. #Meinung
