@dirt Don't forget about the producer, and the album cover artist on retainer contract, and the stage set designer team, and of course all the supporting roadies.

Dear ARRL,
The only reason I bothered to renew is because I want to keep my @arrl.net e-mail account. You **literally** provide no other value to me what-so-ever.
You can keep that birthday refund to me. I will not be spending it.

@djsundog @cascode I'm afraid we crossed that event horizon a long time ago.

@cascode @djsundog Depending on where you make your measurement, it can actually be a plasma, for at least part of the signal processing steps involve the movement of charged particles. 😉

A lof of people sad about opportunity, and lots of comics about how it wants to come home etc. But keep in mind it lasted 55 times longer than it was designed for. The people who worked on it tried their best, and all told it was a massively successful project.
It was built and designed for exploration, and overperfomed all expectations. If you're going to anthropomorphise this little robot, give it its well-deserved pride for overcoming and accomplishing so much. Give it the pride of someone who lived nearly 4000 years fulfilling their calling.

@Elizafox My mother-in-law's birthday coincides with Christmas, which adds that much more stress when having to buy presents .

@djsundog This also killed the Kestrel-2DX development, as the Digilent Nexys 2 board I've been using for almost a decade suddenly went sunset because the RAM manufacturer stopped selling the RAM chip on the board. Probably a good thing in the long term, but seriously was inconvenient.

@enkiv2 I love microkernels. I miss them dearly. OTOH, hybrid kernels are probably the closest meeting of the minds on the subjet we'll ever get. :(

Yeah, I'm done with this shit. Between me and 2 other engineers, we've decided to just rip it all up and rewrite the backend API daemon in Go.
Fuck this nondeterministic async coding approach. Fuck not having reliable profiling support. Fuck Tornado.
We're just so done with this shit.

Open star clusters, such as M36 shown here, are stars that formed together relatively recently and having left their nebular birthplace are now drifting slowly apart. Our Sun would have been part of such a cluster billions of years ago.

Finally something #HamRadio related:
Had a nice chat last night after getting home from bowling and dinner with Matt, KC4EGG. We were on the Skyview repeater at first, but when we discovered that we lived on the same street just in two directly-adjacent towns, we switched to 2 meter simplex. He remarked that the audio was cleaner on simplex than it was on the repeater. We lowered our power down to 5 watts and were still crystal-clear
Never dismiss simplex if you live close to another ham.

It's that time of the year again, where I spend hours, days, weeks, m-f'ing MONTHS, trying to debug a database/API server bottleneck that renders our fucking control panel god-damned USELESS to everyone.
I.
Hate.
Enterprise.
Bullshit.
Take your fucking database servers and fucking shove it where the data don't shine.
