@maiyannah
there a specific thing you recently saw that made you think on it? (doesn't need to be, jus' wondering)
-
One thing I shall state firmly tho.
@maiyannah is a very lovely lady who ought to have as many smiles as possible.
-
Gaming discussion in general these days, just seems so...ridiculous. It's difficult to take seriously.
People get -so- damn invested. Not gonna pretend I haven't before, I think most have.
But at the end of the day you sorta just realize. Who cares. Just have a laugh at it all and enjoy or dislike what you want to enjoy or dislike.

"The Witcher 3?
Welcome home, friend.
/r/Gamingcirclejerk was designed with you, the savvy consumer, in mind. Still going strong in this post-Witcher world."
-
It gets into it's own circlejerk, as you might imagine, that's what tends to happen when a bunch of people call out -other- circlejerks.
However, r/gamingcirclejerk is quite amusing to me sometimes.

Ahh, okay. That makes a bit more sense to me.

Yeahhhh. I just...I dunno. The descriptor of 'self hating' is always one that I'm kinda uncomfortable about, because of how quick some people are to apply it.
But the way those two, and others like them, seem to genuinely despise the type of people -they themselves are- and allign in full with people who genuinely only want them -alive- because they're useful to them at the moment, baffles me.
Me and you have expressed issues with LGBT stuff in terms of it as a movement.
But we're not going about declaring hatred of 'all those damn gays' and openly choosing to associate with people who despise all we are.
Whereas those types...are doing so...but don't seem to really grasp the fact at the same time. It's so confusing to me.
I try to understand different 'sides' of arguments, to emphasize as best I can, and...I think I struggle with what they do, seemingly being completely okay with it, the most.
-
@maiyannah
I just don't...'get' them.
Blaire says a ton of outright anti-trans stuff, without any self-awareness, and most of her fans are all "burn all the trans! 'cept blaire I'd fuck blaire."
Then with Shoe/sh0e however the hell you type it. She's a weird attempting to be quirky boxie clone, who is apparently super liberal but...90% of the time is alligning with whatever generally right or ex-gg thing is going on.

Using Plateia (as I think you mentioned in other post) seems like a way to deal with this with that whitelist thought.
HA has a whitelist. Plateia is more open.
If an instance seems totally good and fine with Plateia for a time, it gets put on the HA whitelist.
That way 'sockpuppet' instances as mentioned, probably wouldn't get through. Because they don't tend to be around for long, or prove they're 'good' for that matter.
...Would have to think tho, it is a complex situation.
-
@maiyannah
Yeah, I can imagine it'd be difficult. Consistent moderation ain't easy cos no one has an all seeing eye.
But then just banning off certain places might cause drama.
Then one has to justify every time you or I does it.
Whenever I personally have blocked people, it's been one, and it's never been a whole instance, and I've only done so when they've -very- clearly been shitty.
So yeah, I get ya. It's a difficulty. Whatever occurs one would get complaints, so just gotta pick one view and stick by it. That's...easier typed than done, tho.
-
It'd be like if you hated lesbians and bi people and think they all should die. But you supported Highland arrow both in reviews website and instance, and you thought I was a decent admin type on here.
The weird "they're 'one of the good ones' tho" doesn't make any sense to me.
-
You'll see audiences of these sorts of people say some genuinely horrific stuff against -precisely those people- and they won't bat an eyelid.
There'll be people saying directly anti-LGBT stuff, full of bigotry and hatred for anyone gay, anyone trans, anyone bi. They'll outright loudly declare how proud they are to be straight and how all the gays, all the trans, all the bi, should burn.
Then they'll go watch some Blaire White or some other person who fits into being hated but kinda just panders and gets away with it, and be happilly accepted into that audience.
How on Earth do the content creators, or the audience itself, manage that disconnect in their heads.
-
They seem to basically exist so right wing (Or leaning there) people can go "see I like this one [indiviual that's part of a normally hated group by other leaning right people]"
People like...Blaire White, or Sh0e. Who act pretty anti-trans and strangely anti-left respectively.
...While also...being trans...and claiming to be liberal, respectively.
I'm not saying you have to be part of a hive-mind, I'm liberal and bi, and disagree with a decent amount of other liberal people, and LGBT stuff.
But people like those two come across ...not sure how to put it, kinda like useful tools? And it's sorta odd.
-
It's weird seeing that...I don't know what to call them... 'once sort of piggybacking off GG'? side of the internet, youtuber types.
The people who claim to be liberal but say things and have audiences that are pretty right wing a lot of the time.
It's a weird world we live in.

@camoceltic
Morrowind generally seems to be regarded as, having neat ideas, that wouldn't be done in todays times (at least not as much) but at the same time having a bunch of annoying systems because of it's age.
It's an interesting look in how things can be a bit more 'streamlined' these days, and lose out on creativity, but at the same time in exchange, are generally more accessible.
We've not really hit the balance yet...well on a -whole- anyways, I'm sure there's some that do.
-
Okay so...I'm not gonna totally abandon this account, I don't think. Well, at least it's not in my plans at the mo.
But, this place...not inherently Highland Arrow specifically, just pieces of the fediverse in general are...how do I put this.
I came over here cos my Liz set it up, so appeared to support her stuff. She makes the good things she does.
It was nice. It was a place for friends to discuss, and cos of the way other 'nodes' (is that even the right terminology) worked, things expanded so that I liked hearing the opinions of others on other places that connected to us.
But over time...after all the drama...and with the sheer culture clash of newer instances and pieces of software and all that.
Feels like the fediverse as a whole has went from "chill here cos you won't be judged even when we have different principles and viewpoints" to "Instance VS Instance! Each instance has their own principles, fuck yours!"
That...as noted, feels like it occured cos of the rise of certain newer instances/set-ups, the bad actors involved, and the reaction to said.
It might just be me, I fully admit that, my mental health has been declining rapidly.
But precisely because it has been...I really miss the place I felt I could go to, to just share opinions and chat.
Now it sort of feels like, while it's not precisely -twitter drama- I just have to avoid this new amalgamation of drama.
Would just wholesale blocking bad actors and instances fix the issue I'm on about? Arguably would. But on a certain level that defeats the core 'point' of the fediverse.
