@semordnilap That said I don't know the full scope of what you want to accomplish.

@semordnilap I would focus more on higher level concepts, such as why there are central repos for distros, what free and open source software is all about, and a brief (1-2 minute) talk that most software you'd want to use on Windows or Mac are either on Linux or there are equivalents.
I wouldn't focus on file management via CLI, other than to say that its there (and its fairly simple). I would talk about pipes a lot though, and some cool tricks you can do with it.

@schlink Now if only we could ban DRM in the first place.

'In Groundbreaking Decision, Feds Say Hacking DRM to Fix Your Electronics Is Legal'
"This decision by the Copyright Office will make it legal to bypass that software lock, but actually doing it is another matter altogether... The thing is—as DRM becomes legal to crack, companies are committed to making it much harder to do so."
Sounds like, with this decision, DRM cracking is less of a legal issue, but will remain a technical issue and maybe become a sort of arms race

@ChrisWere I just learned that LMDE only ships with Cinnamon now.
On the other hand, Debian Backports is usually up to date with MATE, and its easy enough in Debian to install other DEs

@ChrisWere @rhode I'm just gonna say #Debian :debian: :)
But seriously to answer your question, I personally like to stick as close to upstream as I can, so I'd use Ubuntu over Mint.

@LibertyPaulM I'm gonna beg to differ.
I've met lots of straight up stupid people in my life who have made stupid decisions. And I can't attribute it to ignorance or lack of knowledge, because these people know better.

@trawzified ok, I just read it.
I don't think it's NA. One of the telltale symptoms is the loss of use of hands, plus numbness. I retain full use of my hands and lower arm, and the ability to flex and extend my arm (at the elbow, mind you). I also do not have any numbness
